Hey,

I was thinking about what to do to my car next the other day, and remembered this thread (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30729), where J-PaP's shown how to remove the orange lens from the front headlights (to make the indicators look 'clear').

My question is, has anyone tried this mod on a set of one piece parabolics? I've got a set of them, and I don't really feel game enough to rip them apart :P

since always the whole lens isnt orange, its clear... but the inner bulb cover is amber...

you could remove it but then youd need amber bulbs! std are clear...

the end result would be the same lol

or you could get the $30 amber invisable globes but they are crap, and the indicators arent going to be that bright

I think he talking about the small orange lens that just covers the bulb only? Refer to pic

I'm pretty sure you have to open the headlights up which involves heating them up (putting in the oven). Removing that little orange bit, then heat them up again so you can seal it back together.

Someone else maybe able to explain it 100 times better than me

lol....

fair enough.... all this time I thought that little bit of orange you can see in there was the globe (as in I thought the globe itself was orange).

Don't mind me.

brightlightautoparts seller on ebay sells led cluster globes for indicators and whatnot, usually end up around $15 posted, and they are fantastic. i highly recommend them for clear tail lights, and i plan on sticking some in my front headlights when i get around to removing the amber covers in the indicators :P

I just assumed that there was something orange of some sort in there that could be removed in a similar manner. There's definitely something orange in there (even if it's just the bulb).

For reference:

It's nothing major, but I'd really like to get rid of it :P

Are you sure? I'm pretty sure there's clear bulbs that simply flash orange. Even if they aren't as bright as standard, it's a mod I'd really like to do. I really like how Canadian's car (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35922) looks with completely clear headlights.

I wouldn't mind replacing the globes alone and seeing if that makes a difference, but it's a bit hard being on-campus at uni and having access to no tools bar a screwdriver :( I've always wondered if the orange inside was just the indicator bulb itself being reflected, but yeah, wasn't sure....

Someone try colouring it like the "indicator only" lense like those that pair with the two peice.

Was going to post up a thread about this...

I bought a pair of those clear led indicators thinking the original front bulbs were amber. Took em out and realized there was a amber lense inside the actual headlight. The original indicators were just clear bulbs.

I remember seeing a tutorial a few years back on that U.S Diamante Forum explaining how to remove the amber part. As I recall it involved sticking the headlight in the oven for a while so the seal around the main front clear lense melts. Then you can take it off, remove the amber part and stick the front lense back on while the seal is still hot.

Top link mate. I might even do the angel eyes mod also while the lense is off.

Yeah, Canadian/J-PaP did a similar thing to their headlights. They had the two piece parabolics though. I was just wondering if anyone else had done it to the one piece variants. I'd prefer to go by someone else's experiences first, especially when it's $$$ headlights :P

Would have made it easy if it was just the bulbs which were orange :( On the plus side, at least I know for sure that I'll have to rip my headlights apart to make them clear....
