Howdy
I have a TL series 2 Advance.... recently I have noticed something that looks like a black ribbon poking out of the edge of the passenger airbag cover. What is it, and can I:
1) Cut it off;
2) Pull it al the way out;
3) Push it back in somehow.
Thanks.

I'm just going to hazard a guess here and say it's probably what connects the cover over the airbag to the dash so it flips up or sideways when the airbag is deployed instead of it smacking the occupant in the face/chest, so I wouldn't be cutting it.:shock:
Even if I'm wrong, your post will be bumped and someone else can give you an answer from experience. Failing that, I would call Mitsu service desk and ask.:)

Yeah I just poked it back in the gap with a screwdriver and rag.

My TL has the same ribbon poking out. I was intrigued about it too. I have done the same as you, and just poked it back with a thin card.:confused:

Your on the money, that ribbon is what maintains connection of the flap to the dash when the airbag deploys. If you cut it, and are then involved in an accident, chances are the air bag will fire that flap in the passengers face, very very quickly, so do not cut it, just push it back in with something flat like a screwdriver or spreading knife, until its not visible.

Hmmmm... on mine it's actualy a free end sticking out, so i'm not really sure if it's connected at both ends. I've attached a photo of it so you can see what I mean.
