hi guys,

ive developed a problem lately with my remote central locking.
thought the battery must just have died so got it replaced...

now it won't stay "tuned in" to the car... it will work for a day or too and then I have to program it again to get it to work...

any ideas what would be causing this?

I had two remotes do this to me with in a space of about a couple of months and ended up getting new ones(under warranty) from mitsi. But I have read that the battery contacts to the pcb(circuit board) break and then the loose contact interupts the connection making the remote loose its memory.
There are posts on here about repairing them so do a search or if your not keen on doing the repairs or are still under warranty, get new remotes.:D
What you describe above are the exact same symptoms mine displayed.

Mine is a TJ and mitsi admitted that they only last a couple of years but they didnt say why. From what I have read if they are dropped or bumped, the soldered contacts fracture as it is only the solder that secures the battery to the circuit board.
Here you go this is from the other post about remotes.

The initial fix to try which works in the majority of cases is to place some blue tack or a piece of rolled up paper on top of the battery and clamp the remote down tightly so there is no opportunity for the battery to move within the case.

Mine has not lost its programme since I tried this fix.

Hey there.

I have had the exact same issues for about a year now. Replaced battery, program it, and programming stays for about a day, then disappears. I always thought it has something to do with the imobiliser cable contact issue under the steering wheel there somewhere.. as i have this stall issue also. Might have to open my remote again and have a look at the solder joints and resolder them...

It was easy for me to determine it was the actual remote because me and my wife both had a remote and when the first one went (mine) my wifes would keep the programming and mine I had to reprogram every couple of days. And vice versa when hers went.:D

Well, i had a look and the solder joints appear ok. There is no movement either, so not sure what is wrong. I think if i could borrow someone's remote for a few days and see if that does the same thing, then i know its the electronics in the car. Hm... anyone got a spare remote?
