View Full Version : 6x9 clamp

hey everyone im new here. i just brought some sony 6x9's speakers for the rear of my magna TH and ive nearly got them out but the i cant get the clamp off them for the power or speaker or what ever it is any help would be much appreciated.

Push the release bit down, that will release the harness... You are best to cut the wires and solder and heat shink the new wires on.

Hi mate, are you talking about that black clamp thing that attaches to the stock 6x9 speakers?

If so, I don't think you can do anything positive with it. Most people cut the speaker wire and solder it direct to the new speakers.

I did the lazy way and ripped the black clamp thing to bits with some pliers. then clamped the leftovers over the new speaker terminals.

hey thanks fellas i really appreciate it ive got another question ive disconected the negative battery terminal is this the right thing to do and when i cut the wire on the clasp thing do i just peel back a bit of the plastic and then solder it to the right connections. thanks again.

you dont need to take off the negative terminal for speakers

yep, just cut off the old connection, pull back the cover to show the wire then either soldier onto the connection on the speaker or get some new connections from repco or something just incase you need to take the speaker out
