hey guys.
should i just buy a pair and drop them in?
it will mean i'll have to drill out the rivets that hold it onto the bracket, that secures onto the door.
i've seen some 'cheap' ones jbl, mtx, pioneer. and they range from $60 to $110.
what are splits? is that the setup that my ralliart would be running?
is the audio seperated into the 6" 2 way in the door, tweeter in door, and speaker on dash?
Thanks.
i also recently installed my subs. 2 10" mtx thunder 6000 in mdf box, powered by kicker amp. its loud, but i'm not sure on the accuracy of the mtx's. and turns out one of them was blown, i bought them 2nd hand of car audio forums (which has shut down now).
i don't know if i should just keep the one 10". or buy another one which is hard to find another mtx. or should i just buy 2 new ones? jbl? jl?

go out and buy another set of splits
which ones to get depends on your budget
you should be able to take the old speaker out and replace it with a new one, this may require new holes for the screws
splits are 1 woofer, 1 tweeter with a crossover
dont know if the ralliarts have tweeters or not
but you could get some verada tweeter pods from mitsubishi
they sit one the door where that black triangle is

MTX is easily available from Strathfield, and if they dont have one in stock at your local store they can get them.
And there is no question on the quality of MTX. They make some of the best subs and speakers for the price
a decent 10" can sound as good as a cheap 12" or 15", it all depends on the quality of the gear. I had a JL10W3 which was fantastic and extremely loud Just make sure you have it all hooked up right and have suitable gear, eg you might have a 2ohm SVC sub running off a 4ohm stable amp so it won't be able to push enough power to it or perhaps the amp is not powerful enough to being with so your bass sounds weak.
as for your front stage, you might have had 2 way 6" two way speakers which means the tweeter sits in the middle of the woofer. To replace them you could get the same or equivalent but eclipse is good gear and your $60 pioneer/jbl 2 ways would not sound as good IMO. If I was you I'd do what others have said and step up to splits, they sound a shiet load better.
You can get good splits for cheap now-days eg Hertz DSK 165 Dieci 165mm Splits - Grills Inc. $168 from FHRXstudios.com or shallow-mount Infinity two-ways REF6512S for $180. Either of those will cook your cheap Superaudio/someothernamethatsoundsliketrash 2way's for $39.95!

get rid of it and replace it with your new tweeter you get with your splits

ohh. ok ok...
would the split's tweeter fit in that tweeter cover in the corner of the door?

depends on the size of the tweeter
you may need to cut away at the back to make the tweeter fit
then just glue it in
Get some info on what are a good set of component speakers and go demo them at a store (whilst still remembering that demo speakers in demo-boards sound like crap compared to in-car) so maybe listen to some that guys have in their cars, at a cruise maybe or some local dudes who are willing to help and then work on it from there.
I can pimp the usual brands such as DLS, Eclipse, Hertz etc. I have MB Quarts and have been complemented on the SQ of these splits, I got them for $250 on sale (DSE216 6.5" drivers with 1" tweets) Other splits i would get if mine died are Hertz, i have heard some mid-range spec splits and they were fantastic.

I may have a replacement Ralliart Eclipse OEM speaker if you would like it... its just had the square corners cut off it though to fit in another car (unsuccessfully), but will still be able to be mounted in a magna. $25 + postage...

thanks for that guys.
i went to strathfield and got these:
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_4089_35567_tab=B,00.html?compName=PNA_Prod uctDetailComponent&olderModel=Y
$119.
i was confused whjen i got there. lost as anything. sales was kind of helpful. he said that my setup was odd. (having 2 way speakers in door, and then a tweeter in door as well. and the dash speaker as well.) he said there was no need for 2 way in door, if you have a tweeter.
not sure if i'm gonna go ahead and install them...
especially now that D-VAN has offered me a direct replacement. (save so much more time.)
D-VAN, what do you mean by square but off? can you send me a pic?
i might just return the pioneer's but i was also sort of looking for a sound upgrade as well.
i'm so indecisive.
