ok i only noticed on the weekend that since getting the rear sway bar kit (whiteline) installed on my car that the 2 rear wheels/tyres are sitting unevenly
the top half of both wheels are sitting inside the guard and the bottom half of both wheels are outside
i figure this is bad for the uneven tyre wear, but wud be a better thing for handling???
this isnt too bad atm coz i cant drive till i get my licence back DEC 3.....so till then its not doing n e damage to the car is it????
also the wheels were not sitting this way before the kit was installed, so i am pretty sure the kit has dun this......
is it as easy as just getting a wheel alignment??
i will post pics tomorrow if i can

well it just sounds like camber...its good and bad...it makes ure car handle corners better, but ure tyres will wear un-evenly, all cars have it to a degree..i see alot of bogandores with massive camber...not to worry tho its all good....But if its as bad as the car in da pic without u puting it like that, then yes u have a BIGGG problem

It may help a bit but not much - you need a camber kit (also from whiteline :D )

seems like in buying the rear sway bar kit i now kinda need the whiteline camber kit, HOW convenient for them
Your car isn't a rear wheel drive car where this kind of camber would chew the insides of your tyres.
Drive normally and see how it goes. If your tyres start wearing badly on the insides, then see about the camber kit.

dude the camber isnt that bad, and if you fit it up i'd say youd get tyre scrapage over bumps lol
as above fwd's are easy on the rears..... just rotate every 5K and you'll get heaps out of them

if i fit the whiteline REAR camber kit u reckon i wud get tyre scrapage over bumps??? y u think that, wudnt the kit fix the uneven sit in the wheels?

By fixing the camber on the wheels iit would push the top out, therfore scrubbing.(me thinks)
And i dont think it will cause excessive uneven wear. Handling will be more responsive this way too!:D

doubt it will rub theres plenty of room
besides if its rubs, roll gaurds/cut away plastic from inner gaurd
there wont be any scrubbing, bros 3rd gen is sitting with a caster and camber kit with front and rear swaybars installed... but i dont think theres a camber kit on the rear
the commodores have crazy negative camber on occasions on the rear coz of the IRS theyve got setup on them- so im told

is this the correct part number for my KH verada???
from the whiteline site
KCA357
or do you ppl think there is a different part that will fix my allignment??
and is it common for a rear swaybar to do this to the rear wheels??????
the change has only occured since the installation of the rear swaybar kit

wih stupidly low soft springs

the vt/vx/vy commodores have a camber issue from stock with wheels any bigger than 15". the moment you put 16" wheels on they scrub the insides out. my friend has a stock vx with the factory 16"s and it scrubs the insides out. i had a stock vx and when i put a set of 17's on it scrubbed the inside edges. and then when you lower it it gets worse.
i noticed that my magna has a slight camber issue and it doesn't have the kit, but as has been said, being fwd means it won't wear the tyres out that quickly. it still will wear them unevenly over time though, but provided you rotate your tyres (and if they are directionals get them swapped so you can put them on the other side) you will still get plenty of life out of them.

The sway bar kit does not and cannot change the camber of the rear wheels.
I would suggest that after fitting it you had a closer look at the rear of the car.
The culprits are the low rear springs, at the time that they were fitted you should have also fitted a camber adjustment kit.
The rear suspension design means that the camber changes as the wheel goes up and down. As standard the Magna has a bit of rear negative camber, top of tyre leans closer to the centre of the car.
Fitting or changing a sway bar does not change the car ride height and does not change camber.
Too much negative camber for road use just causes the inner side of the tyre to overwork and wear out more quickly. Also changes the sensitivity of the rear end. That's why Whiteline engineered and sell an adjustment kit to go with lowered springs.

I have not seen this happen with the installation of a rear sway bar.
depending on who installed it, I would be taking it back and asking them to look at it.
if you installed it, it should be installed with weight on the wheels if possible. at least the final tightening should be done with weight on the wheels.

yeah as been said above its nothing to do with the rear sway bar..
its because the car has been lowered.. and yes if you adjust the camber back to where it should be (neg one i think is nice for road cars yeh?) then you'll very possibly have some rubbing going on..
ive seen it happen many times once camber kits are installed on the rear of lowered magnas.. also has alot to do with the offset of your rims weither or not it'll rub...

thanks for all the help,
i still cudda sworn that the rear wheels were not like this after i got it lowered, cud it hav changed due to the springs getting worn in now?
i think i will get the camber kit because the 19" tyres arent cheap, if there is rubbing is it just an easy fix of rounding the wheel cavity? and where can i get this done?
i am unsure of my wheel offset but i will find out from bob jane after i get my licence back
