I'm not 100% sure, but i was under the impression that the lower the ohm, the lower the resistance, and the more power an amp can dish out to the speaker (in the article above they use water as an example, you add 2 extra pipes, you lower the resistance of water flow, and thus more water can be delivered through the pipes).

Though it is my understanding that the more power you get out of an amp by lowering the resistance, the "dirtier" the signal get's, and also not all power amplifiers can support a particular resistance.

I'm sure Tim will come in and slap me if i'm wrong :P.

Ohm is what milli farad was saying while she was riding her mega cycle ..........ohm ohm ohm. lol :D

Little electronics humour there :P :D

The answer to your question from M4DDOG's long and complicated post is higher is better. :D

i dunno about tim, but doing physics through high school/some uni, i've really gotten to hate when they relate current etc, as water pipes/hoses etc etc.... just sh*ts me... go study physics, or any sort of electrical thing, and u'd know why and understandand how the charge moves.

didnt help the topic, but thats my rant :P

Well to noobs the water theory is fine:P
Ol' Fart - I didnt get that at all and im doing electronics!

Spaz!

An easy explination i think is from my old sub manual, read down the bottom about wiring in series and parallel, it explains how the load (ohms) grows or lowers with the different wiring methods..

the lower the ohms the better for spl, we run splits at 1.33ohms and run our subs at .25 ohm
and our amps are rated at 2700wrms at 1 ohm

but sq wise i would go for a higher ohm amp as there cleaner and judges like clean
