Hi guys / girls

does any one know if a 3.0l auto gear box fit a 3.5l or would get a 3.5 gear box
thanks in advance

Yes, the 3L gearbox fits the 3.5L engine. No real difference apart from the first gear is different somehow (longer? higher ratio?)

is that for an auto or manual

they may fit but not neccessarily work. You can have two 3.5l auto boxes but have different final drive gear ratios. if they dont match up to the transmission ecu the gearbox will go into failsafe mode.

There are a few people running 3L gearboxes mated to their 3.5L engines.

there is a lot of wiring and fittting issues
manual to manual ok

lots of labour cost when going from auto to manual :redface:

To most people:
gearbox = manual
transmission = auto
although gearbox/transmission mean same thing, just becomes confusing.
Well the 3.0L uses a different final drive to the 3.5L TRANSMISSION and may not function, so some are saying yes it will, some are saying no it wont, and some people are saying GEARBOX without specifying auto/manual.
As an outside onlooker I am confused.

Hmmmmm, after reading everything over, if you bolt the 3.0 TRANSMISSION to your 3.5L engine and run it with the 3.0L ECU it should run.
What issues will the higher final drive ratio of the 3.0L box cause?
