hi guys and girls,
at the moment i have stage 1 sports coils all round (sports ryder coils), and im thinking of going to stage 2 sports coils on the front (45 mm drop from standard i think???). has anyone had any experience with these, are they rough, whats there legallities, do i need to purchase anything else to make the ride softer? i know most people have kings springs etc... are these much different???
thanx for your help

Shouldn't have any problems with legality. The main thing the cops go for is the minimum 100mm ground clearance. I've got a TJ VR-X with King Lows (so a ~45mm drop as well), and the lowest part of the car is approx 12.5cm off the ground when unladen (that's measured from right underneath the car too). Here's (http://img165.imageshack.us/img165/7/dscf0997hp2.jpg) a pic to demonstrate the lowest point.
Since you don't have a bodykit, you shouldn't have any issues with the police. Even then, you've got enough leerway with the right height that you can put a bodykit on later if you so desire without running into problems.

hey mate thanx for that, does anyone know if i should get shock absorbers at all, and is my guestimate about the height drop right or wrong, it is 20 mm lower than stage 1, but i dont know how much of a drop stage 1 is. lol i cant wait to install these and show them of. where do i measure the how far it is off the ground, do i ignor mudflaps etc... iv been told so many different things, i think its time for some pros to tell me where to measure from.
:bowrofl:

There's no universal point to measure from - with regards to legal ride height, the lowest part of your car's mechanical or bodywork is measured. I believe that mudflaps don't count, but any kind of bodykit would. Mind you, you'd probably end up scraping your mudflaps a fair bit if you went any lower.
Also, I think some sort of aftermarket extractors for 3rd gens sit pretty low, so you might want to have a look under your car to see if your extractors sit really low. You're less likely to be picked up on this (I imagine cops would be content to choose the first bit of the car they see that looks really low, and measure that), but if you want to play it safe you'll want to keep it in mind.
Whether you need new shocks or not is up to you. I did a fair bit of researching when getting my springs and I couldn't get a clear consensus. Some people will say not to bother getting new shocks unless you actually need them, which is a fair point. However, there are a few advantages to getting new shocks. It's the same amount of labour to replace shocks as it is to change springs - so you'll be paying labour costs twice if you decide to get new shocks not long after you get new springs. You can also choose to get a set of shocks which are a bit firmer to compliment your new springs, to improve handling.

mine sits fine on superlows, but i didnt have to take the front mudflaps off coz they scraped like a mofo :P they were only like 5cm off the ground! easy to take em off, 3 screws and held on by double sided tape :)
cops will never 'measure' ur ride height if they get u, you'll get measured by the pits after the sticker! so just dont do anything stupid, and they wont use it as an excuse
bear in mind as well, superlows will handler a lil rougher, coz theyre a stiffer spring, so u'll notice a few more bumps in the roads than before

Have a look at sheets 05 and 06. Basically, your car shouldn't touch the ground if you have a flat tyre, and you have to keep above 100mm :)
