Well I put the poor old girl in for a service finally last Saturday. She had a slight oil leak has done for ages, but of course it was actually dripping on Saturday and turned out to be one of the seals.
Still haven't got it back. Heres a list of whats required so far.....
Engine Mount.
Apparently all seals, they were dry and had to be chiseled out.
Timing Belt (yippee)
Alternator/Air cond belt
Brake Pads are very low and the front Disc's need replacing(I knew that).
Not bad for a car thats been ill treated for 2 years, this is her first real service in 160,000kms since I bought her with 80,000 on the clock.

Took it to Danny at Campbellfield Gas, they fitted the LPG last year and I split the Vapor Hose last week (due to the broken engine mount). So far without the Brakes it's up to $1100, I'm expecting the brakes to be another $300 or so.

mine needs a service very soon and i rang ultratune, they qouted $380 for the timing belt plus the 180k service which includes oil and filter change, air filter change, radiator fluid change i think, front plugs, and ecu check for $320. pretty sure ill need more than all that though.

ehh Ultratune, as bad as kmart auto, midas, and all those franchises, though they are a little bit better on price then Mitsubishi.
Find yourself a real mechanic, who dosent have the 'overpriced' standards
Lets see, oil and filter change = easy air filter change = $20 paper one from repco?
Radiator flush, can do yourself for $30.00 of coolant that will last 100,000ks+ plus have some left over.
Plugs, some cheap ones, easy to undo and fit , NGKs, they prob will use champions
All up could do that for $100ish instead of the few hundred
Like I said, find a real mechanic, thankgod I did a long time ago......... saved myself hundreds and now do more things myself

Radiator flush, can do yourself for $30.00 of coolant that will last 250,000ks+ plus have some left over.
I think you'd wanna change coolant every 40 to 50k, 250,000+km's on one coolant change, i feel sorry for your engine and cooling system

Monitoring everything from oil to coolant is very important, the colour changing coolant is good for this, but yes its cheap and easy to change it more often. Just as easy as recharging your K&N or swapping air filters over, changing plugs, changing leads, dizzy cap, oil flush and change, tranny flush and change, topping up power steering oil, brake oil, etc

Got her back tonight....$1500 later.
Brakes, Transmission, All Belts and tensioners done. All Oils and Fliuds replaced. Either the Hyundai is absolute crap or the old girl is driving like new. It just feels so much smoother and "nicer".

As long as you drop the oil every 10k or so and the gearbox oil at the same time you'll be sweet. We've got a VU (I think) commo at work that's done 324,000kms and didn't have a service of any kind for almost 50,000kms and it's still fine.
