I've just sold my luminous dials as they didn't match my blue neon interior at night and im trying, once again, to use blue leds to make my cluster blue....

Lemme tell you it's not ****IN working....

Has anyone done this successfully? What have you done?

Im thinking about trying either some flexiglow or really small neons, like 100mm

Lemme know what you think.

Cheers

i think those 4 led bulbs would be sweet, either we find some in a wedge bulb, im sure they will sell em, next time im or your in town, well ask!!!!!

if not, maybe there is an easy way to hook the regular bulb with 4 leds in it into the socket???????????????????

i think me and you are thinking the same, so ill let you know

been to jaycar and have tried all the LED from 1000 to 4000 and still hopeless. They work well with the a/c control centre console lighting but aren't any chop with the cluster. Ah to hard, im going back to stock white!

what size led did you use on the aircon button ?

The rear demister button led dead, so I need to swap it, I may as well replace both the buttons with blue LED's.

Also, what sort of bulb do you use for the lighting of the button as well ? our aircon button doesn't light up at night, the led works but not the button lighting.

another one, the drive light indicator on the dash is also out, anyone replaced one of them as yet ?

full of questions I am. feel free to tell me to rtm any time.

Ok to get to the console lights its a simple matter of removing the centre air vent, very easy, just use a flat head screwdriver and carfully pry it out at each side until it pops out, when it does disconnect the cable from the airvent.

With that out you'll be able to access the centre console bulbs.

To change the Drive bulb you'll need to remove the instrument cluster (geez i must have done this a billion and one times) and its simply a matter of twisting out the old and twisting in the new. you can buy a new bulb or swap the D for L or something, no one ever really uses L, 2, 3 etc.

For my cluster i used 5mm LEDS.

I have changed the lights behind my cluster, i would like to get white dials to set it off, i got Super blue LEDS and an inline resister then place it in the blade terminals with a bit of bluetack, just to keep it steady, it's a but smaller then the blade globe it replaces,[/img]

I don't know much about blue LED lighting for the cluster or centre console but I must admit I looked at a friends TH the other night and don't like the 'in your face' standard bright white of the dials and back lighting for the ventilation controls and would rather them to all be green (I'm a bit traditional and have always liked green instrument and centre console lighting) how hard is this to change?
The white of the guages and rotary ventilation controls would look sooo much better in a softer less intrusive green. I think that the gen 3 instrument cluster and centre console design is one of the most attractive out there still. :D
