Brands and specs of the components? Random part numbers mean nothing to most people.

Pretty obvious to most people I think. If you like the sound of it then go for it. Its all about what you ears like. It's your car, make it sounds as good as you want. :D

spl in the boot, sq in the cabin??? dunno if your aware champ, but the bass can be heard from the drivers seat to... your statement makes no sence at all, from what i can gather you want a loud street system, goes loud, stays clear and has some doof yes?

my suggestion, honestly...

your money is better spent in different ways and buying second hand

get response amps - 2x80 (250 i thinks) 1x800 (500)
get focal/hertz/mb quart/*inster other good brand here* front splits (350)
focal/hertz/rockford fosgate/ID sub (500)

thats all up 1600 and your getting a mint system for your cash!

I know some might disagree

Get a 300WRMS Response Sub
2x150WRMS Response Amp
Some cabling from jaycar, fuse holder etc

all up you should get a good deal, response go hard, can go hard, will go hard, and if you blow it, you didn't end up paying that much in the end anyways?

With the Response gear... the sub is very picky with the enclosure and the tuning.
When I first got one (with the 2x150W bridged) the bass was boomy in a sealed 25ltr box (which the manufacturers recommended).
Took it one place to get it tuned... sounded HEAPS better.
Took it to another place 6 months later who fiddled with the tuning again, and its sounded even BETTER! He also recommended I put it in a bigger ported enclosure.
Now by better I mean more of a seamless quality bass rather than a car wrecking boom which it was originally.
My point... the cheap response sub and amp combo can sound very nice but needs to be carefully tuned... but thats true for all systems i guess.

thanks guys for the feedback car stereo isnt really something i know alot about i tend to listen to different speakers and go from there so was just after feedback on what others thought.yes i like a bit of doof but i also appreciate fine sound without the overkill of bass or treble.
thanks guys

Everyone seems to get picky so I will to :D

With the money I would get:
Front: Hertz HSK-165 / Boston SX-60 or SL-60 / Focal 165V2 / PG comp6.5 / Morel Hybrid 6

Amp: DD C4a / Audison LRx3.1k / Audison SRx4 + SRx2s / Boston GT20 + GT22

Sub: DD1512 or 2512 / Boston G2 or G5 / Hertz HX or HXS300 / Treo TSX

Mix and match and you can get a combo under $2k ( you never pay retial ):D

RETAIL?

But i agree, you have to audition a lot of gear instead of just buying up one brand's gear. All speakers sound different so you gotta listen to a lot. Speaking of JL, I recently just sold a 10W3D2V2 and it was brilliant so JL do make some good gear but personally I'd only use their subs and maybe amps.

can vouch for a JL sub. they crank with a small amount of power. dont know much about their amps to be honest. they are getting good returns from the response gear from what i've seen and heard so maybe you can save some money there.... as for the model numbers just punch it into google and then write "review" after it and see what comes up. you can usually find someone who's had what you are looking at, good luck mate
