Isn't the limiter at like 220 or something?

You don't need it removed...

i think all cars these days have speed limiters installed in them - tho they are set at pretty high values which kinda defeats the idea of a speed limiter at all!

i like the older cars, when the speed limiter was as fast as you could get it to spin....

Yep its 220 and yeh unless your going to the track you don't need it removed - even then it would have to be a track with an insanely long straight to hit 220!

Pretty sure it can be removed without replacing the ECU but you need 'unlock codes'?
I dunno <insert JasonsVRX or TurboCharade help here> lol

It's actually 210kph, but due to speedometer acuracy decreasing with speed, some will read 220.

As far as I know the factory ECU can't be modified/reflashed, and the ECU is what limits speed. There's pretty much no way around it without an aftermarket/replacement ECU.

you go to the loony bin to get it removed cos if you need to go that fast your

you need either full replacment ecu, no good if your auto!

or if your lucky you can find a certain piggyback whick has the speed limit eliminator, it alters the signal to the ecu so the engine when it hits 210km/h thinks its not going that fast allowing you to go faster..

benifits to removing the speed cut

death more instantly!
big cost!
wank factor!

negatives
none

:bowrofl:

in normal magnas it was set @ 210km/h due to the H rated tyres, any faster and the car would have required much mor expensive tyres

ralliarts do 240km/h limited cos they had better tryes not cos a hand full of kw and a silly bodykit makes them go faster

mmmmm speed limiter i think it may be called something else

what it suppobly dose is removes the limit of revs and how slow the car takes of and some how by passes the limmitter to do this ill get a bit more info but did it in the celica with out issues just replaced the ECU which was **** but worked well

nothing to do with revs, at 210km/h in 5th the car is only doing just over 4400rpm

so the ecu must use the speed sensor wire, or know what gear it's in and the rpm.... then when you reach 210 it cuts the fuel untill you slow to under 210 then all is normal again lol i have done it heaps, every day on the way to work for a couple of weeks lol

why don't they set speed limiters to a more reasonable speed i.e. 150km/h?

I wouldn't go bragging about stuff like that. Take it to the track.

yes the rev limiter! i think that may be it. its sort of where the car cuts off the amount of fuel being fed to the engine if it revs to fast thus loosing power

theres a reason they wont let you rev it to 10,000rpm ;)

This coming from Mr. Supercharged Magna (which I'm aware wasn't that fast, but I thought I'd pick on you anyway Andrew :P )

all you need is a apexi rsm - it has a speed limiter removing function

nope there was another lol

and also most consistant s/c'd sprintex in aus thats been run too ;) 10 runs within 0.1 sec of each other

but the s/c has moved on to another owner now, who can unleash the terror on some more un suspecting victims lol

it'd be even better when the car has a stock appearance, std alloys and normal look to it.. not modified look

What happens if you want to cruise at 180 then? There are still some roads in NT that don't have speed limits isn't there?

lenda

Make the speed limiter 180 then lol
