Hi Guys / Gals
just wondering if anyone knows the law about doing an engine swap

i currently have a 3.0l 98 TF and can get a cheap 3.5l out of a 96 KE
i thought i heard somewhere that you cant put an older engine in your car
hoping someone might be able to give me some info on this

Thanks in advance

I don't believe there is a problem with V6 engines. It's mainly to do with sticking a V8 into a car that isn't designed for it. See, alot people chuck in a powerful engine and don't modify the brakes so you have breaks designed for a V6 on a car with a V8. I'd say you won't have a problem at all. Maybe insurance.

You may have to get it approved, im not 100% sure but i think if you change then engine in the car or increase its power by 15%, you must get it approved i may be wrong though.

As long as the engine was available as an option, yes. As far as the RTA site is concerned, engine changes where the capacity increase is less than 15% above the maximum size engine available for the vehicle are ok.

smokeykebab: All Veradas were built with 3.5s

Just to think about... The law states that older motors are not permitted because of pollution levels, acceptances are made if the engine is made to run with the same emisson gear and get checked and approved by the RTA.
