i have a 3.5 V6 TH magna and have had a a tick-tick noise coming from the engine for a while now. it seems like it could be the tappets or something. has anyone else had a problem like this? is it bad? and how would i be able to fix it?
thx

Try a slightly thicker oil, seems to keep the lifters a bit quieter.

it will be a sticky lifter or something like that.

Yur engine is stuffed ......... throw the car away and buy a VW beetle lol
Only gagging .....its really......... A BOMB........... run away lol
Sorry, seriously its probably a sticky lifter, next time you do a service run a good oil flush through first, that usually clears em :D

it could be just a noise from one of the pulleys, i had mine making a similar sound till Rhino checked it out.
6g74 have sticky hyrdraulic lifters. oil change with a good flushing should fix.

Thnx:D
I tried a lifter freeup when i first got the car. i will have to try again and maybe use somthing other than MAGNATEC, A little thicker.I dont see why though with only 50thousand K's on the clock!

don't see why you sould be using a thicker oil when the car has only 50thousand plus kms on it... i've used a 5w-40 (Shell Helix Ultra) and now i'm on Mobil 1 5W-50 in an engine thats nearly done 180000km.
Thnx:D

I had a lifter stick at 15000km after destroying and replacing a set of pistons.

Go buy a bottle of Nulon Worn Engine Treatment, will kill noise real quick.
I had a lifter stick at 15000km after destroying and replacing a set of pistons.
the point is my engine had only done 15000, had the heads off, and yet it still developed a sticky lifter. engine age doesn't matter for this type of defect.

Magnatec is one of the good reasons that cause that ticking!lol

Magnatec doesnt make sense to me....... if it sticks "magnetically lol " to your parts .....surely it also holds the metal filings there too ......BAD IDEA  :D
