Hi Guys,
just wondering if from experience you know how low you can go on the stock shocks without riding on the bump stops? Cheers guys,

My advice, do not go anywhere on standard shocks or as they are properly called, dampers, get new ones because if you go down on the originals they will start to knock and leak very quickly.
If you want to change the dampers, get something like the Monroe GT Gas, these are fine with lows.
Anyting lower, it is not only the bump stop to worry about, you will have little to no suspension travel
To answer your question EGO had his car lowered 4 inches on stock shocks for an awfully long time, probably still... i think andrewd had the same but lower. King superlows etc will be fine.

Yes, these people do lower that far and then the suspension travel is about an inch at best. you will constantly bottom out and eventually if you do not get picked up and defected you will be in serious trouble mechanically. You can of course get customer dampers made but then you also have the issue of control arm travel.

Bugger, so its not really that cheap or easy to lower the magna then? Surprises me a bit because its sitting up like a 4wd at the moment, thought it would quite easily drop 2 inches on stock hardware. Roughly how much is a set of lower dampners that will allow 2-2.5" lower springs?

yeah, be careful when you do it. do it right. and don't remove the bump stops to get it a bit lower. didn't check that the struts i put in mine had em, kinda stupid cos they were fight in front of me:redface: and now im up for some big cash to replace all 4 shocks. as well as a few other things
