Hi guys,
need to bump my throttle up a bit, and want to keep my tps adjusted correctly. Which pins should I be measuring and should they create a circuit at idle or should there not be a circuit at idle? Gotta get myself a workshop manual (anyone have one in pdf or similar?) Cheers,
Sam

yes there is a downloadable manual
http://www.lisho.net/?page_id=3

the computer self adjusts the idle - the air flow meter or o2 sensor may also be faulty
the accelerator cable should have tiny bit of slack in it
dont touch the base idle unless you have a gas analiser or dyno available

anyway
the wires to adust the tps

Dont know the reading for the V6
but if it is a 4 cyl if you get a reading of .5 volts that is the wire

I usually put the tps at the middle of the slotted adjustment
and go from there
if you have to adjust it to either side of the slot max
then replace the TPS

Cheers for the link to the manual, that will come in handy no doubt!

I take it when you say the computer adjusts the idle that there is a idle controll valve somewhere? My 2.6 efi auto magna seems to be idling quite low and will stall when cold if in gear and the brakes are on. Where should the idle be when cold and when warm? Mine would be about 600rpm when cold and 800rpm when warm.

I bumped the idle up on the throttle body by half a turn and just wanted to make sure my tps is still within range. I will check it with a multi meter tonight and try to get it to .500v.

Anything else I should be looking for?

Cheers,
Sam

the tr 4 cyl part of the above manual will cover this problem for you

yes any leaky vacume line
check the inline non return valve in to the brake power booster (it should be white )

check for leaks from the inlet manifold

the vaccume hole inside the plenum gets blocked with fuel reside reducing your vaccume
if you unbolt the plenum where the 5 nuts are you can clean the hole out with a drill or piece of wire

then blow though till clear

the fuel pressure regulator at the end of the rail -check its O ring
and the injectors are clean

check the airflow meter readings
and Air filter for any oil

From memory I think there are a couple of dodgy vacuum lines, one from the rocker cover to the plenum and another from the passenger side end of the plenum. I will replace these asap and see if it helps at all. Thanks,
Sam

Page 167 on that manual according to Adobe reader. Read on from there, and it describes the whole procedure (too much detail to write in point form sorry).

When you say you bumped it up on the TB by half a turn, you mean the air screw or the throttle plate screw? The throttle plate screw should never be touched.

Hi Mal,
I believe I turned the one I was not meant to turn, but I only did it by half a turn exactly so that i could turn it back if need be. Seems I might have to, on the way home from work today it started idling really low and the check engine light came on. What could this be?
