hey all, how are we going this fine monday afternoon?

i was cleaning the verada thisafternoon to get some of the tree sap and dirt and crud off it - it looked filthy!

anyhow, while i was drying it off / cleaning the mags, i noticed that im MISSING an AWD badge!

i assume im right in thinking that the verada should have 3 AWD badge:
- one on the boot
- on on front passenger quarter panel
- one on the front drivers quarter panel
??

the one im missing is the one on the drivers quarter panel.
it doesnt look like someone has stolen it off the car - as there is no sticky residue, and the paint inst faded in the shape of the badge either.

we kinda figured that the verada had been in an accident while it was in the dealership accountants care - by looking at panel gaps, they certainly are not the best/ look worse than when the rolled off the showroom floor.

as i said tho, they have not disclosed this information to us - are they legally obligated to tell a potential buyer of this? i think they are personally....

how much is mitsi gunna charge me for a new AWD badge, or do you think i might be able to get a freebie outa them coz the work was not completed correctly?
im hoping for a freebie personally....

cheers guys and gals

EDIT** - yes this is an awd verada, not one a fwd verada dressed up with awd badges.

umm why should they tell you every bit of damage the car has had? if it wasnt bought as brand new condition, then there is just a chance that it may not be brand new ;)
salesperson is under no onbligation to tell you anything... why do you think people make REVS checks etc...?
and really, in the scheme of things do you think a salesperson would say 'oh, by the way, its missing a badge' :doubt:
hell mine didnt even notice a parklight missing! (the whole assembly!)

and shouldnt cost too much, and should be available.

I think they are only meant to tell you if it was a repairable write off. I just pulled front and rear bumpers off my car, and to my suprise found dents behind them, so im guessing my car has had a crash in the front and in the back. Not good, but if its not serious they dont have to tell you, and they certainly wont go out of their way to tell you.

as for the emblem, should be around $10 from mitsubishi, got the chrome "Sports" one for $8 i think.

by the looks of panel gaps and a couple of other things, it looks like it has been in not a little accident, but a more larger one...

REVS checks are no longer free - and only payable by credit car, dont have a credit card, so couldnt do a revs check.

it is a used car, but i am the first OWNER of the car.

They might throw the badge in when you get whatever else done.

Can I ask though, if you knew the panels weren't fitting properly or whatever, why did you buy the car?

you know how it is when you find a car that you have always wanted...
i was more interested in the fact that it was a verada and i wanted a verada... didnt want to know about any faults - just wanted the car. lol
so yeah, my bad, first rule of car buying broken - didnt look closely enough at a car before laying down the cash..

il see what i can get out of them, i got a friend of a friend at the dealership who helped make the deal a good one (gave me Waaaaaaaaay too much on my tradein - 06 hyundai elantra).

ordered a new badge today at mitsi - itl be here tomorrow hopefully.

it was a quite inflated cost of $17!!!!
for ONE badge!

i nearly fell over!

but i want it - to complete the look of the car, so it had to be ordered.

unfort - we have to pay Mackay taxes, they tend to think that just coz most of ppl in the town work out on the various mines that we can all afford it.
well, not all of us do - so miners pricing isnt fair on the rest of the town!
</rant about this town>

You should count yourself fortunate that the badge only cost $17. Someone screwdrivered off my VRX badge. The badge cost $17 and the body and paint repairs to my new duco cost $180. So, some scumbag cost me ~$200 for a VRX badge.

Make sure that you use Prepsol, or equivalent, to remove any wax or silicone before trying to stick the badge to the panel. Also, you can use masking tape to create an edge to line the badge up with. Position in the same place using measurements from your other panel.

ouch, that wouldnt have been a nice experience.
why do some people insist on stealing things off cars they cannot afford to own themselves out of pure jealeousy?!

in that case, im glad that i dont have to go get the panel repainted/repaired

Hi,

On this topic I have a TW VRX AWD. Some of the marketing info said that a "Quadtec" badge was fitted to the rear of this car. However the parts program does not show it in the parts diagram. I have seen a TW LS AWD with this badge fitted under the "AWD" emblem on the LHS of the rear of the bootlid.

Does anyone know which is correct? As my car does not have one fitted.

Thanks.

if you live in brisbane you can get a REVS check in the city, cash over counter......

or get yourself a visa debit if you dont like credit......

and normal revs check will only get you a clear title check, for a history check (with accidents, etc) you have to get the premium certificate which i think payed around $40-50 for cant remember exactly what it was.

Don't you worry about me looking after my car, I've got a (well maintained) 20k dirt road for the back way home and you probably wouldn't believe how fast this car is through the bush. Its a work taxi, so it gets its share of meguairs and elbow grease, but it has to earn a living too.

im thinking that might be something to do with the AWD goodness of your vrx.

iv taken my awd verada somewhat offroading here, and i was very pleasantly suprised about how well it actually handled thru varying types of sand.
(obv wasnt taking it on a 4WD track, but i guess you could say i was offroading)
after doing that tho - i washed the verada coz i was worried about all the sand and salt water sticking to the body.
