Ok hi, im new here but not to forums,
i have a 1998 misu magna (obviously lol ) and it has been converted to manual and 3.5L from auto 3.0L, over the weekend i replaced the clutch as it had gone, i used a modded exedy heavy duty clutch (50% hevier than standard), since i have replaced the clutch it wont dissenguage properly,

if i start the vehicle in gear with my foot on the clutch it is dissenguaged enough to be able to sit at lights but only with my foot on the brake as well to stop it rolling foward, if i start the car in neutral i cannot select any gear at all, so i drove it round yesterday without a clutch. (start in gear abd change gear without it) any ideas people?

Cheers,
ian

PS, people from townsville will probably know this car as my brother owned it for many months and was on this forum, if you wanna meet up feel free to contact me

Also i have double checked fitment of the clutch and i know the friction plate is the correct way round, Raised section towards the pressure plate correct?
the only thing i havnt done is adjust the freeplay on the master cyl

If its not hydraulic then it is not adjusted properly. You should be able to tighten or in your case loosen the cable. Try a gregorys manual, always quite helpful

cheers but all sorted, its hydralic clutch but because of the "modified" heavy duty part, all the freeplay needed to be taken out of the master cyl adjustment to allow enough throw to release fully

Also i have found all gregorys manuals to be a pain in the ass to understand

cheers,

glad its all sorted, might wanna put a bit more explanation of exactly what you did for ay other guys or in the future that come across this problem, and interested myself really, didnt think it was really possible to ajust a hydraulic clutch.

Cheers,

Yea is there a tec section here somewhere i can put it? ill put up some pics to show where i adjusted it.

usualy there is no adjustment on hydralic clutches due to the self adjusting charactics of the hydralic system but these have a freeplay adjustment on the pedal not just a pedal height adjustment
