Hi Guys,
just finished installing a kicker comp 12" sub in my TR Wagon. I've never played with ported sub boxes before, which way should I point the sub or the port opening to get the best sound? Any other advice on how to get the bass a bit better out of a pretty cheap 12" in a wagon? Cheers,
Sam

pointing the sub or port wont make a difference. In a wagon, becase you dont have the enclosed 'boot' that a sedan does for seal. I'd say a bandpass sub box would be good

sorry to threadjack...how about a car boot. 2 12's subbies...facing seats or facing rear? for best bass whilst playing house music...

I'm thinking facing the seats for house....will be tighter and keep up with the tempo of the music better.
Why not just try it both ways before you fix the boxes down and see what you prefer? That applies to both boostinhard and yann89.
Seriously guys.. You couldn't just go out to your cars, turn some music on and see for yourselves which sounds better?!?!
Wagons do have a good reflex effect because of the sweeping rear end, I think the best position i read somewhere was on a 45 or something so the waves hit the glass and rebounded into the cabin or 'monkey area', you know, where the monkeys live?..
Bass frequencies as everyone knows are non-directional so the only difference you will hear is PERHAPS some volume and PERHAPS a touch harder but really, unless your boot is weird you will feel probably no difference. I couldn't feel any difference in my boot no matter what i did.

Thats the thing, people say its not directional, but I think it really is. I could go out and try the sub box in a number of directions but i thought I would ask on here first, after all it is a forum? That's what people do on here right?

yeah i always been running my sub (in a wagon) facing the rear window then the other night i turned it around and faced the seats, it seems to be kicking me alot more(painful like a hatchback). think i prefer it facing the window but, its a deeper bass rather than kicking

well the best idea is to have the port or vent and the sub on the same side, as the idea is to get the bass even, and yes it's meant to be non directional, but go with whats sounds best to your ear
