Hey guys,

I was hoping for a little advice from anyone who has changed or replaced their locks on their bootlid and doors.

I've got a 3rd Gen TE.

I reckon that someone tried to jimmy my car and totally screwed up the boot lid lock as well as my door handle locks. Now I can't really get into my car using the key in any of my locks anymore, but because I've got remote central locking, I can still get in and out.

They didn't manage to break in and didn't end up stuffing anything else up, so it's okay.

What I was wanting to know is:
1) If I wanted to get the bootlid lock, and the door handle lock replaced, does anyone know the part numbers for each?

2) I was also wondering how I could replace all the locks, yet use the same key as I have now? Can I get it "re-coded" by some special lock smith or something?

3) Does anyone who may have done these changes before know how much it would roughly cost?

Thanks for your help in advance, I know squat about locks.

i "THINK" you are gonna have to get a new set of locks for your car and that would more than likely result in a new key as well
i have only just replaced the door and ignition locks in my 2nd gen for that same reason (attempted break in, stuffed lock) lol and lost key  but because mine isn't sec coded it was an easy swap
best bet
ring an auto locksmith

go to a wrecker and buy the locks you need, hopefully from a car without keys as its cheaper that way.

Beforew you fit them to the car take them to a locksmith with your key and they will be able to re code it.

I did this when i did the tj boot conversion.

that way you wont have to worry about 2 keys, 1 for ignition and one for doors. You just keep your old key and all is good

you should be able to go to a lock smith and get them to put new barrels in where you need them. they can put in the barrel whatever wafers a needed to match your existing locks.
any competent locksmith should be able to do it.

take your door fabs off and get the old lock out, or just right down all the numbers on it and take it to a locksmith. they should be able to get you new locks that use the same key as your old one. my landlord is a locksmith and when i went to get a key cut in my skyline i was getting it cut of a dodgy copy so he told me to get the lock number and he could get me a brand new key that would be as good as the original key that came with the car.

Thanks guys, I'm going to look into it.

So, any locksmith should be able to do it?

Any idea of a rough price?

any locksmith that has half a brain should be able to do it, but sorry, no idea on price.
