Whats the difference between a TE and a TF Altera?
I have been told and im pretty sure my rego and stuff says TE but ive seen a few images of what people say at TFs. Whats the difference and what changed? I looked at the red book, 97 - TE, June 97 - TF.
Anyone researched this? Sorry if its a stupid question or already discussed.

dude im with u, they look exactlyyy the same to me, i think the TF's introduced the 3.5 litre into the range, where as the TE's on had the 3 litre, and the 4cyl . im probabaly wrong, they are aesthetically identical tho.

Yeah i think your right. I dont know of any TE 4cyls?
I think all the body parts coordinate though, so i think ill be safe (with a TE) If i got TF parts? No matter where in the car. I have a feeling there identical though!

What TF had the 3.5L? The KF did, but afaik the TH Sports was the first Magna with a 3.5L.
Otherwise I believe the doors have window frames on the TE (what I've been told) and you don't have any cup holders in the TE, unless the Altera TE had them of course, I'm not 100% on that either. Oh and I think the rear badges are different on the TE to the TF, not really a big deal.
Biggest difference is resale.
TE was released in '96 btw, not '97.

Blind leading the blind here as usual;
I quote wikipedia;
The TF Range was introduced in the first half of 1997 and consisted of 4 versions, Executive, Advance, Altera, Altera LS and Sports, the 2.4L 4 cylinder engine was seen only in the Executive. These cars had upgraded interior trims and redesigned wheel covers and featured a speed alarm. The Executive and Advance were identical in appearance but the Advance had a different interior trim and was fitted as standard with Airbags and ABS braking. The Altera and Altera LS introduced Power Windows and several other options such as dual airbags while colour coding was standard. There were no TF Altera manuals, manual was available in the Executive, Advance, Solara and Sports. From June to August 1998 a limited edition Solara was introduced that included all Advance features as standard, plus Alloy Wheels and Colour Coding. The TF Sports was available in only 4 colours, Paris White, Flame Red, Navy (Nautilus) Blue and Dark (Frontier) Green, it carried all Executive features as standard as well as a rear spoiler, red side strip and an optional 4 speed Auto transmission with manual mode. The TF Sports also had a Dual Airbags and ABS Option as well as unique interior and dashboard trim. TF Sports production ceased after September 1998. Several new colours were introduced during the later production of the TF range and the final unit built was built in December 1998. The 3.5L KF Verada's were identical to the previous KE, except with a few upgrades such as the Speed Alarm, etc. About 60,000 units were built.

The TF was a running change to the magna range with the main addition being a speed alertand cup holders. The seat trim was changed for the executuve and advance as was the wheel covers. Also the passenger airbag in the Advance and the Altera LS and Verada Ei was made standard not optional. Changes in Paint came later in the model cycle. Thats all. I may be wrong on this but i believe the auto trans computer was different as well.
they also improved the auto tranny from TE to TF abit smoother
