i have bought some intake cleaner (Wurth) that i need to spray through a vacuum line with a probe device... i'm not 100% i have the correct line.

this nippley thing connects to the intake hose just before the throttle body and is the only thing i can see that it could be... obviously this engine is different to the Oz Magna but hopefully the pix will help

if no water came out of that end then it will be an intake vaccume line

yep no water came out. i think it sucks air from the intake plumbing at idle. it just seemed to be located a bit lower than the actual manifold so i dont really get how it was meant to clean the intake going through there

don't spray it in there, you will just squirt it into your rocker cover. You need to squirt it into your intake pipe. As far from the throttle body as you can so it mixes in the intake air properly. I used the stuff you are talking about and it is good stuff. You will blow a bit of black smoke after doing this. this is ok.

A couple of things i noticed were better fuel economy and a bit better throttle response. The best result i had from Wurth products was there fuel injector cleaner fuel additive. Man did that make a difference in power!!!!

q.1 what motor is that?

you need to find a vacume point try one of these hoses while motor running see if any are sucking, when you find one use it. some times they only suck when the throttle is slightly open.. when using these products best to have a hot motor and after using the last bit of the can turn motor off and let it sit for 10 min, before taking it for a good drive.

dont use the green arrow either. The hose that connects to that pipe coming out of your rocker cover should go to your black inlet pipe which is hooked up to your throttle body. You need to spray the stuff into the intake airflow so it mixes with the charge air and does its job.

they are vacuum ports for the fuel pressure reg ect...

these products work better if sprayed in to a vacuum port. the best place is the booster hose but you would need a restrictor. even the hose that the pcv plugs onto will work but best thing is to keep it next to the butterfly.

it's the JDM 3.0l GDI Diamante engine (unfortunately).

i'm also gonna get a can of Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner, it has a foaming agent so i think it would work better than the Wurth stuff cos that doesnt foam up

people on the subaru forums reckon it's better in the vacuum line too. i can see positives and negatives of both i guess

Any chance you could post a picture of the whole engine (further back), that intake plenum looks interesting.

i've tried both the Wurth System Cleaner and Subaru Upper Engine Cleaner and neither produced any smoke out the exhaust, this seems a little weird to me??

if you didnt get any smoke from the subaru engine cleaner theres something wrong, i use it every day on every subaru i service, and thats a lot, and every one has thick white smoke billowing out the back for a few moments when you start it up
