My boot wont open VIA the leaver near my drivers seat... and it does have a KeyHole on the boot either.. So i have to get my lil brother to climb inside the bood from the back seat and unlach it...
Has this happened to anyone before and is it a quick fix..? What could be the problem..?

Sorry about the light lol. but just a rough idea of what i mean...
Would really appreciate it if i can get some help with this..:D
umm. yea so theres nothing wrong with the lock itself there just not a key barrel to trigger the lock into opening.... Would it be a fuse that is stopping the leaver from working..?.. and if i were to goto a wreckers to get a new 1... what parts would i need..
Thnx guys..

That would be because the cable has either snapped or its come loose from the locking mechanism.
have fun :)

it should be a cable
if a fuse then look on the cars interior fuse box
thats a wreckers part (the cable ) and get a boot lock from a wrecker also
next have the locksmith fit a lock to the outside that works
a child could crawl in there and be trapped on a hot day
wagons have a electronic back hatch release and also a key

I just did mine. If the lever is mechanical and feels light when you pull it, chances are the cable has snapped in which case you'll need a new cable from the wreckers. I got charged $20 for it but you can probably find one cheaper. If it is a cable it's a simple job which involves removing the drivers seat, back seats and some of the plastic panelling to get at the carpet, then just taking the old one out and hooking the new one in.
If it's an electronic mechanism, then I can't offer much advice except to check all connections and fuses, if those seem to be alright then it may be something to do with the actual boot lock itself, I think there's a motor in there that does it. Haven't owned a Magna with one of these so i'm hardly an expert at it.
Either way, you'll need that boot open to check and fix it.

Hmmm it seems like the cable is too long.. and when u pull the leaver in the front of the car... the cable moves the lock slightly but not enough to unlock the lock...

So i have to get my lil brother to climb inside the bood from the back seat and unlach it...
I think i've found the solution! A Boot Lepricorn! It'd be awesome, just stow it away in there pass it food and water weekly, and every time u want the lid opened.. just make 2 firm raps on the boot lid and hey presto u'll take a boot lid to the jaw as he flings it open, whilst saying in a cheery irish accent "too be sure, too be sure. Will tat be arwl?" :bowrofl: It'd be a very unique mod... and def get u street cred.

Erm... There is a mechanical switch on the boot latch itself to prevent the remote boot release from opening the lock, I have mine set up so the lever doesn't open the boot, just the key.

Another thought. When I did mine I had the same problem, except ours was pulled too tight so the boot never closed. On the actual boot cable, there should be some notches on the plastic piece holding it in. Just move it to the next one along until it works.
Crazy, but worth a shot. Worked for me anyway. If you need pics, i'll try and get some tomorrow when i'm at the wreckers, but otherwise you should be able to see it fairly easily when you next check it.
That is, if it isn't already fixed. Otherwise, this is just for reference in case it happens to someone else. lol

Sorry I wasn't able to get the pics, the boot of ours is off at the moment (replacing the back panel and some of the bolts).
It's at the boot end of the cable, just where it meets the actual locking assembly. Should be fairly simple to spot.
