what model car have u got?
you can definately get just the rear muffler part and replace it with yours for a louder sound.
ie a cannon or something like that
cannons arent everyones taste. but it depends what you are after i suppose

no worries mate, on a 3.5l id recommend a decent muffler like a redback or lukey brand.
they give you a nice rumble without being ridiculously loud like a cheap cannon muffler
theres on here (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mitsubishi-magna-rear-performance-muffler_W0QQitemZ300152361972QQihZ020QQcategoryZ10 400QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) on ebay looks like it could be decent
Or alternatively, head into an exhaust place near you and ask what they can get for you.
a cat-back doesn't HAVE to be loud.

Wanted to get on welded on as well.

They can indeed, some can use a pipe flange, that is expanded from 2" to 2.5" or they could weld 2.5" pipe to a 2" joiner and bolt it up to the stock system like they did on my cannon.

Mate unless you want it welded to the cat, it'll have to be bolted somewhere.. My catback is bolted onto the cat and then straight until the rear axle and then bent and welded in two sections, one is the muffler and one is the bend section. My catback cost $275 inc Berklee straight through (Max Mufflers, Nundah) another good place is Speedy Exhausts @ Everton Park, same price different gear.
