Hey all,

Just wondering, the other day I got back from mechanics and I decided to reset the ECU to see if some problems still existed, now I took off the battery, waited 10 minutes, plugged it back in, and now the remote is not working, got a new CR2032, put it in, and still doesn't work?. Checked the fuses, they seem fine, what could have happened? And how should I troubleshoot.

You have to retune the remote to the car(pulling the battery out of the remote erases the remotes memory). Put the key in the ignition and turn to acc. then turn to on and then back to acc. repeat four or five times(i forget how many) in under five seconds and if you've done it right the indicators will flash, then press a button(any button) on the remote you want tuned to the car. the indicators will flash again if its done right. Easy.

Try this:

Grab owners manual and go to page 2 - 7 "Keys and Locks"." Remote control switch programming".

Or go to Martin's web site : http://martybugs.net

Cheers.

To place the car into program mode, turn the ignition between ACC and IGN three times within a 5 seconds period, and then leave at the IGN position.

The hazard lamps will flash once to indicate the car is now in program mode.

Within 5 seconds of this acknowledgment, press any button on the first remote.

The hazard lamps will flash once to indicate acceptance.

Within 5 seconds press any button on the next remote to be taught. This process may be repeated for up to four keys.

Program mode will be terminated by any of the following events:

The ignition is turned off.
More than 5 seconds have elapsed since the last valid key code.
Four keys have been taught to the BEM.
No correct data has been received in 10 seconds.

and FWIW, the above instructions were copied and pasted from my website (http://martybugs.net/magna/remote.cgi) (which is a re-worded version of the instructions from the workshop manual) ;-)

Cheers,
Martin.
