this friday has been running pretty slow and there has been some scenseless threads posted up. so i thought id break the silence and post up another problem of mine  lol
ok.. just got the invoice back from the mechanics
Rear left tyre Scalloped - shock worn? ok that sounds wacked and i want it fixed before i go out and by some new doughnuts
any suggestions, the mechanic couldn seem to find out what it was.
And also
slight engine oil leak at rocker cover gasket - i know exatly what and were this is.
is it worth getting the mechanic to do it or can it be done by myself.
and how much roughly
and last but not least... HAND BRAKE is a vital part of your car. i need the entire right hand side REAR DRUM? and maybe left. what am i looking at? VERY COSTLY?
does it have to be geniuine or can i pick up a cheaper aftermarket product?
help is much appreciated.
thanks heaps guys

The cam cover gaskets are easy to change, well the rear one takes a bit more work as you have to remove the intake manifold.
The gasket its self is only about $20 from Mitsu spares. Just unbolt the 6 or so bolts holding the cover down and remove. You might need a think blade or screw driver to remove the old gasket as they harden over time and stick to the cover. Replace with new gasket and cover with light film of oil (as it's rubber). replace cover and bolts, check and re-tighten bolts the next day if needed.

Don't need anything extra, if it's the front cover, remove and clean the PCV valve with some throttle body cleaner while your at it.

if the coolant bypass hoses blow you cook the motor
they allow the coolant to pass through the block till the thermostat opens fully
