After washing engine I noticed off-white sticky stuff (goo) on the top of the Tranny of my 02 TJ. The sticky stuff is on the horizontal part of the casing under the air intake. It seems the engine degreaser softened the goo. Without removing the Air intake, which is above the goo, I can only get a finger to it. It looks like it might be some kind of sealant. Now does anyone know if sealant was used (maybe to plug the hole where spin off oil filter could have been fitted), if TJ had one). Concerned there might be an opening into the top of the transmission.
