Hi all
Ive been looking through the forum most of the day researching a few things, one being detailing. Ive seen some pretty impressive stuff but nothing really local to Adelaide. Can anyone give me some advice as to who or where I should take my car to be done, and im looking for a good job at that. Any feedback much appreciated. thanks

Which side of Adelaide? I know a really good guy up North, he did my mates skyline and it came up like new.
I think it was $200 for interior, exterior and underneath. Or $100 for each, interior and exterior.
Don't quote me on the prices, but we were both very impressed. If thats the side of town your after, I will find the details for you.
Cheers
Pete

Bit off topic here, but since its relating to detailing I didnt think it was necesary to start a new thread.

I use my work shop shed (mainly on fridays) to detail the family cars. I recently detailed a Daihatsu charade before they sold it and without blowing my own trumpet, it came up mickey mouse!. They were asking 3500 beforehand then after running a detail thru her they ended up with 5500. The owner couldnt thank me enuf and gave me 500bucks for my effort.

Admittingly it took ALL day to do and I dont charge a cent I just love doing for the satisfaction for the after look. But if I were to charge what sort of price range would be acceptable for the following... Wash, Chamois, "Deep Crystal" Paint Cleaner, "Deep Crystal" Polish, "Deep Crystal" Canubra Wax. Then the interior, Vaccumed, carpet steam clean, pull interior out clean every thing with Gel cover (smells like bubblegum). Then rewash to get rid of power, then deep clean mags n tyres. Any ideas at all for costings??

i got a small detailing business and do about 12 cars a week (between 2 of us)..

most of it is second hand cars from car yards - sedans are $165 for full detail (wash, buff, int shampoo) that includes GST.. for private clients its around $30 more then gst added.. so around $198 for a sedan..

Its not great money, but between 2 of us we can get cars done in a reasonable time but yeah.. 4x4's and very dirty cars take a lot more and i can charge up to $275 for say a pajero for a car yard.. i mean, its probably not THE BEST job, i dont focus on getting out swirls and stuff (that costs more) just mainly gettin scratches out, gettin the inside as tidy as possible so they can sell it..

Private cars i always charge a little more, its only fair as the car yards constantly return on a daily basis.. But for what you described id expect you to charge around $150-$200..

I get people say, gee, thats dear.. but it takes 7-8 man hours detail a car thoroughly.. your really working for like $25 an hour and then you have to take all your expenses out of that..

car - $150 - $200
4x4 - $250 - $300
