I have a feeling Ive asked this question before, but I couldnt find anything when I searched.
To those of you who have installed Diamante headlights....what changes did you have to make to the wiring? I have installed the lights and taken them to a auto electrician but he has no idea how they're supposed to be wired....he seems to believe that there should be 4 wires ( one for earth, one for parkers, one for low beam and one for high beam) but there are only 3 wires which seem to be high, low and earth. do the parkers just run off the same power that the low beam does?
I think i read on here ages ago that you just need to change it to a female to female connector? please correct me if im wrong.
Another thing is, My parkers were originally in the bumper (i.e. XI KR Verada), would this make any difference? I remember being told that the power to the parkers in the KR bumper was just run via wires from the headlights, and this seems to be in accordance with the fact that my diamante lights are from the US diamante (yet modified to be in comliance with ADR's) and the US diamante's have parkers in the headlight like the KS veradas and also have the parker in the bumper.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

if you were in orange i would give you a hand, lol
find the 2 wires for the parkers, that he chopped up and connect then to the one on the head light, if that doesn't work then switch the wires around.
i haven't done this before so i'm only guessing

THIS is the key here. The "auto-elec" (note the use of inverted commas, doesn't sound like he deserves the title) needs to find the wiring for these, and connect it to the diamante parkers. I think, from reading the service manual a while ago, there should be a plug nearby that the bumper parkers plug into.

That's the thing....the parker for the diamante lights is actually inside the low beam on the headlight.

Hey chuck, With the high beams, Just cut the 2 plugs off your standard ones, and then crimp the end with a crimp which will fit over the bulbs contacts...Thats how i wired up my Highbeams...
As for your parkers...Thats a doozy..
Can you simply get the exsisting wiring from each side of the bumper and extend it up to the headlights? there should only be two wires...and i know you have that "kit" on now so the wires in theory should still be there

Diamante headlights have four parkers, one in each reflective part.
Wires for the parkers in the bar can be moved and extended up to your headlights.

What do you mean by each reflective part? mine just has one at the bottom of each oval shaped low beam.
and the thing is....these lights dont have seperate plugs for high and low beams.....there is like only one plug on each set of lights. :doubt:

Hey chuck when you say Diamante Lights you mean the Series 1 lights yeah? With the chrome grille? they actually have 4 parker globes, the series 2 ones only have them in the low beams (parras)

Umm...no
I mean....these lights look like the KS parabolics on the inside, meaning that they have the one parker in the low beam...but they are from the Us diamante which should have the chrome surround. They also only have ONE plug at the back instead of two.

Another thing ive noticed is that now that my headlights arent connected, the taillights arent working....but im assuming that this is just like how when I had my aircon disconnected the indicators werent working, meaning that the systems are connected?

Dude, your explanations are both confusing and annoying. Pictures will help here, bloody hell, it's frustrating just trying to comprehend what you're on about.
Assuming your headlights look like this:
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g35/z0mgluke/mycarbig.jpg
Diamante headlights consist of four parker bulbs, one in each reflector for the headlights, as I've said before, (ie: One in headlight reflector, one in high beam reflector) Despite having four bulbs, you will have two connectors, one on each headlight, just like every other magna/verada (except the KR obviously).
The parker lights in your KR verada are in the front bar, piggyback these wires to go to your diamante lights if you want the old ones to work still.
This isn't your auto electrician's fault if he hasn't wired them up, as you still have the factory specified parkers for that model. You just haven't specified by the sounds of things. Furthermore, wires going to your headlights should be as follows:
Headlights:
Three prong plug; one low beam, one high beam, one ground
High Beams:
Two prong plug (requires modification); one high beam, one ground
Parkers:
Two prong plug (requires modification/replacement); one parker, one ground.
Not hard at all to do the modifications.
With regard to your tail lights; this is probably a blown fuse, check that.

Ok...the headlights are the US Diamante ones....like these..
http://i24.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/b5/23/158b_1.JPG
http://i6.ebayimg.com/06/i/000/b5/23/15a7_1.JPG
They only have one parker in the low beam section.
They have only One plug at the rear.
The parkers in the KR front bar will not work because I have an aftermarket bodykit...therefore no verada bar. But I USEd to have the KR bar with the parkers in the bar.
And the fuses for the tailights have been checked and they're fine. They only stopped working when the headlights were disconnected.

DUDE
Did you read at all what I said? Jesus christ man! Everything I've listed on my above post is what I had to do to make my Diamante lights work. Your KR parker light wires should still be down there somewhere, if your aftermarket fail kit was installed the plugs should still be there, he wouldn't have deleted them all together. Have a poke around instead of asking for people who live half way across Australia if you have a certain wire, WE DON'T KNOW.
Please, for the love of god, read, investigate and REPEAT. You're driving me insane.

No i dont have th chrome surround....ive slightly modified the lights so they fit and look better than KS parabolics (in my opinion)....see the pic...and yeah the quality of the pic isnt the best :doubt:
