As some of you are aware i deliver mail for a living... But some days it springs some unexpected surprises! I happened upon one of those green 380 SX's on my round. So i took a few snaps with the owners consent and had a bit of a chat about what he thinks of the 380.

The bloke in question works some distance away from Geelong in Ballarat and does about 40,000 kms every 10 months so he updates frequently (it is a company car). He was telling me that the company he works for uses Futuras, Acclaims (VZ) and 380 SX's. So after 40,000 kms when they turn them in guess which car has the best resale? The 380! When they traded them in the 380 SX was worth $17,000 and the other two were approx $13,000! You have to remember that the SX has a cheaper initial purchase price as well so maybe this is a good pointer to Mitsubishi finally regaining some resale value.

The green SX is his second 380 the previous one being and Electro SX. He said after owning the other two the 380 was both more economical by a fair margin and was an excellent cruiser. When given the option in a few months time for another car he will be getting another one. When i asked him about the colour he commented that people either love or hate it. There is no in between! And people always pass comment. At least the car gets some attention. lol

So, its great to hear some positive news on resale and an independent opinion of the car.

By the way, sorry about the quality of the pics. Camera phone! :D

I've been bangin on for months that 380's have the best resale of the big 4. Go say it on the ford forums tho and you'll get eaten alive by all the hardcore ford fanbois.

interesting. My Dad's work dropped Mitsubishi alltogether from the choice of cars its employees could choose not long ago due to resale. Kept Toyota, Ford and Holden though.

His last Magna (TW VR-X) DID drop from $36k to about $14k in less than 2 years though!

I think a lot of the time big companies and perhaps small ones too keep going back to Ford, Holden and Toyota not necessarily for the resale but the discount they can get on a new car. Maybe Mits need to reassess the fleet pricing... But then again if they drop their new car prices to fleet buyers maybe this will drop the resale value too?

That green looks good. It's the first photo (from the front) I've seen that does it justice. The rims and headlights actually don't look bad.

RACV found the 380 to one of the cheapest large cars to run (including resale, servicing costs, fuel economy etc.). It wasn't far behind the prius either.

FAF or AFF?

The one I'm a member of is www.fordforums.com.au (http://www.fordforums.com.au), but I believe there is another less popular one called Ford Australia Forums.

Oops off topic here...:disgusted

The green is called "sublime". As most of us know it was a limited run for series 2 SX promoting 380 LPG. Ended up being a limited run of only 200, all with standard GT rims and sunroof, together with sublime seat trim inserts. I was hoping to see it in series 3, but apparently it wasn't very popular...

I reckon a series 3 VRX in sublime dumped on 19s would look interesting.

I've seen it driving around here. I thought it belonged to the Mitsubishi dealer because I can't honestly imagine anyone wanting to drive that colour around, but - come to think of it - the dealer's car has dirty great advertising all over it, so that makes two.

Well. Make that 3 people that want to drive that colour around. The dealer, the civilian on my round and my good self! Its all to do with personal preference in the end isn't it? If i had the option my VRX would be that very colour.
