hey im a newbe and i was wonderin whos got the fastest ts magna in the amc.
ive got a ts, at stock it was only 80kw atw. since then ive done k&n panel filter, reconditioned moter, port and polished lpg heads, extractors, 2.5" exahaust and a twin tip canon. was wonderin how much more power id ruffly have now.

At a reasonable guess I'd say about 135kw at the flywheel.

If you've had it dyoned once, Dyno it again instead of asking for guesses

Did it cost alot to get the heads rebiult for LPG?
did it also cost alot to get them ported and polished?
if it was a fair whack may i ask why you did it to the SOHC motor...

do you have a sticker or a spoiler? if so id say close to 200kwatw lol.

whyd u convert to LPG? id say you'd have close to 110kw atw, possibly more

it was 900 for the heads to be reconditioned to lpg aswell as port and polished. at the time i didnt now about double overhead cam heads for a ts. i had to rebuild the engine coz it was billowin smoke out the exhaust and i needed the car.

i converted to gas coz it was free and its higher octane. i got more power atw on gas then on petrol.

note: was using only 91ron

I'd ditto at 110kw for a reco and P&P.

I'd be going 98kw at the engine at the most on gas. You loose power with normal gas setups, fact of life, get injected gas and gain power due to custom tuning.

You should of used 100ron to take advantage of the knock sensor
the v6's make 120Kws on 91 at the fly or 124kw on 98ron, so your loosing a few valuble kw bro just by the fuel!!

I think AJ's 2nd gen would be the quickest around. 3 litre quad cam, haltech and a manual would be hard to beat

u dont lose power on gas, as has been said if you tune it more power can be gained as it has a higher octane.
SHYGRL had a VL turbo converted to gas that makes big power , plus gas is cheaper, win win

since the engine rebuild ive been usin 98ron and you can feel the difference. im waiting to get me cams done so i can take advantage of the port and polish.

Best power mod would be a manual conversion. Wouldn't it?

Best power mod would be to not use the SOHC IMO
The money spent on ported and polished heads, extractors, and cams, could of done a DOHC conversion...
I mean im all for being different and all but there'll be a time where you realise youve wasted it on a crappy engine

What I'm saying is why would you spend big money on engine mods of anykind and then hold it back with an auto box?

Wouldn't the best value be had by doing the gearbox before anything else?

Oh, sorry....
Would definatly be a worthwhile move.
Could set him back as much as $1500 though depending on who he knows really

Less money on dyno's, more money on drag strip entry fees! ;)

Then you can add your time to the 1/4 mile database and see who has the fastest 2nd gen :)

Dimi108 Got 188kw atw From his SOHC 12v KS verada (Eaton M90 Supercharger running 10psi at the time)
Correct me if i am wrong mate!

If thats the correct figure then that is a decent effort with just the M90 bolted on, I assume he has supporting mods though like fuel upgrades etc??

Nice effort regardless dimi

You would be the biggest cop magnet!!! They'd look through your car just to find something. Just make sure you have some grass clippings in a glad bag sitting in your car when that happens :)

Nah not at the moment, he needs a tune, i was only 25 or so horses behind him on the dyno a few months ago and i've got nadda except a pod that wasn't relocated and i only had a muffler on then, not even catback.

Once he gets tuned for the new setup he should make more than me. Apparently I was running dreadfully lean as well (which would explain why I was making more power).

Get him quick while he's down!

hahaha nah 25hp is 20% more power than your sohc, itll still be alot quicker. Unfortunately in this form though i still have ls1's top end...

Also has a ****load of torque.

Some of the turbo 4's might be quicker.

SHYGRL had a VL turbo converted to gas that makes big power , plus gas is cheaper, win win

it really depends, the vl was rb30et, just a dizzy and straight gas only no computer needed. the gas setup was GRA tho so it was fully tuneable. when i got rid of the car it was making 150rwkws on about 10psi with a small rx7 turbo, the car now has twin GRA converters and to4e turbo, it makes about 220rwkws now.

it was never turbo on petrol so i can't point out the differences. but the gas was cheaper to run, it cooled the engine down more (didn't have an intercooler at all).

The only bad thing that happened was the new owner (my brother), was doing a gtech run and the gas backfired which blew the custom plenum to pieces and the bonnet half off the car, he was running it untuned

Not to mention if he had gunned all fully sick from the light, and next thing he knew his bonnet was swinging back at him... that'd be expensive, awkward to explain, and not to mention embarrasing.

gas cars shouldnt backfire unless there not tuned properly.

Or you could get a gas system like mine which gives me 10% more power than I'd have on petrol. Only problem is i still have to run petrol through it so the gas doesn't clog up the injectors.

From reading the previous posts, the only way the gas system could have malfunctioned like that is if it was a dodgy setup, their are alot around. I have a mate that has to fix them.
