im a bit of a noob, got stoned and bid on some rims on ebay, now my mate tells me they might not fit, http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250169099982&ssPageName=STRK:MEBI:IT&ih=015

i saw a post regarding the PCD saying it was 38 in a magna , that means the rear tyres should be cool, as these rims are 38 pcd in the rear but its 30 pcd at front, does this mean it aint cool?

any help?

cheers :P

by the looks of it a p +30 and 7.5 inch rim will put you maybe just within a normal guard/ just outside am i right?? if you have flares then you should be okay. i run 8 inch up front with a p 38, so the 7.5 inch with 30 shouldnt be too far off.

N.B. just an educated guess, not a garuntee that i am right.

Offset for a Magna is 46mm. PCD is 114.3.

OP: 17x7.5" with +30 offset concerns me, I think it'll be touch and go.

Also you need to check the hub bore diamater. E.g stock S15 rims have the right PCD and offset, but often don't fit properly due to the hub bore being too small.

Most aftermarket rims seem to use a hub ring in the middle that can be changed to get the right hub bore diamter (67.1mm for us, from memory).

Check that the hub bore is larger than 67.mm. If so you can use a hub ring to get it right.

if not you could just bore them out like i had to to get my r34 skyline wheels onto my magna.

other than that they may just stick out a bit. if they do you could always just sell them on boostcruising.com or skylinesaustralia.com

Wouldn't a +30 Offset mean they would sit too far in as appose to too far out? I always thought the larger the positive the further away they sat. Could be wrong.

no the higher the number the further the back of the hub is from the centre, which means more of the tyre is behind the hub. a negative number means the back of the hub is behind the centre of the rim, which means big dish.

You have a TS with I presume a 205/65R15 tyres on a 15x6 wheel with 46+ offset. Now,
according to WheelMaster:
The 17x7.5" rim with 30+ profile with 235/45R17 tyres will stick out 1.2" (31mm). Which
means its defectable.
The 17x8" rim with 38+ profile with 235/45R17 tyres will be 0.3" (7mm) closer to the
suspensions but will still be 0.9" (23mm) further out. Which means it is still defectable.
(See my last paragraph).

Now, from the regulations, a cars track cannot be changed by more than 1" (25mm).
Which means a change of 0.5" (12.5mm) in offset per side. Thus:

46 - 38 = 8mm offest change = 16mm track change which is ok but
46 - 30 = 16mm offset change = 32mm track changes which is illegal.

On my old KS, I had 16x7 rims with 40+ offset and 225/50R16 tyres and they were sitting
flush with the guard, and that stick out 0.6" (16mm).

Also, just the looks of it will be bad, especially if the one with the lower offset is fitted
at the front.

Have a look in the for sale section. Or put a wanted to buy post in the Forsale section.
Although I don't know if newbies can post WTBs.

Is it an expensive thing to get them bored out to a larger diameter? What's the process? (Sorry to raise up this oldish thread but I thought it sticks to the topic and doesn't warrant an additional thread!)
