Today my Quaife LSD and Exedy HD clutch install was finished.
Sure enough, the clutch isn't disengageing properly.
After many calls and headaches to various people, it seems what's happening is the rivets on the clutch plate are fouling on the flywheel centre bore.
Apparently this is a known issue for that particular clutch and our cars, among clutch specialists. But as I bought the clutch kit from Autobarn, I was not warned about this.
Even when I rang Exedy for troubleshooting, they did not mention this.
Anyway, thanks to my diff guy pulling some strings, the hope of making it out onto the track this monday is still alive.
This afternoon the car was towed to his mate's place, whos gonna pull it out, get the flywheel centre bore enlarged, machined again, and put it all back together over the weekend.
If it goes to plan I'll have the car back on the weekend, in time for the pre-booked track outing on Monday.
It seems virtually everything that could go wrong has, fingers crossed no more dramas occure.
let this serve as a warning to fellow 3rd gen manual magna drivers:
If you get an aftermarket clutch, make sure there are no clearance issues with the flywheel and the rivets in the centre of the clutch plate, before you put it together and realise it won't disengage.
Anyone else experienced this?
