Hey everyone,
Well I purchased a set of Shorty Headers from RPW and am waiting for delivery. I was just curious on the opinions about this design. Has anyone purchased these headers from RPW? If so, what sort of gains would I be looking at?
The reason I purchased this design is because I do want that higher end RPM kick. Also, the Race Design, and Pacemaker's design are too large for my setup since I'm running on the smaller 3L TE Magna engine (which apparently sits lower than the 3.5L).
Currently, my only exhaust modification is 2.5" piping from the cat back, and dumper pipes tip.
Feedback would be great, thankyou.

Anyway... recently threw in the shorty design. Free'd up a little mid to top end and lost a little droning too (killing my ear drums lol) but to be honest, wish I went a different direction. It made the mid range that bit more torquey, but once you hit the high rpm's, its like the engine is already maxxed out so breathing isn't an issue.
Next mod will probably be a good CAI setup then something to add to the end rpm torque. I'm thinking about camshafts but the engine is pretty freaking old, so all the oil valves and internal seals etc might be an issue. I would also like to go a higher compression in the cylinders, give it some more grunt.
Well, if anyone is curious about the shorty design, I'll provide some feedback.

A CAI will help a little. However from what I can tell, the main limitating factors for top-end breathing are the factory cam profile, and intake plenum. So if you want significant gains in top-end, these are the two main things I'd be looking at.
This is the case for the 3.5L motors at least, I'm assuming it's the same scenario for the 3ls. When it comes to n/a motors, it's all about breathing mods complementing each other. You may find the CAI improves things to your satisfcation. If not, then cams and intake plenum are what i'd be looking at.
You got any pics of this "shorty" header design? I'm guessing it's the same sort of thing as the headers used in the in the ralliart? (i.e short primary runners, as opposed to the much longers ones of the RPW race-spec or pacemakers).
