I am in the middle of doing a 3ltr to 3.5ltr conversion....with some work being done before the engine goes in...

What i would like to know from those with Experience on the matter...What the better Extractors would be to get....

1.. RPW

2.. Pacemakers

3.. ?????

Cheers Craig

RPW extractors will be more expensive, but they're probably better quality, and I think they may be tuned length.

Paccies on the other hand will be cheaper, but they're not tuned length.

RPW are tuned length. The have the long and short and they have different sized pipes as well to achieve different results, it all boils down to what you want to get out of your motor. I'm still tossing the coin, and still thinking.... working on the smaller things atm to achieve ponies...

As you probably know Craig, I had RPW extractors on my car and had them HPC coated (pretty much doubles the price). Everyone who saw / worked on the car commented on how good they looked, but at the end of the day it really comes down to how much you want to spend. I've seen pictures of here of the pacemakers, and they look very similar in design to RPW's, only with smaller primaries.

Also - just about every exhaust place in Aus. deals in pacies - so with your industry contacts I'm sure you'd be able to get a decent price.

BTW - G'luck with the conversion, sounds like fun!!

Both RPW and Pacemakers are a tuned length design.

there are other companies that make them too.... more than you think... when i did my reasearch in to things....

things you need to consider are direct bolt on, most 3rd gen headders were designed when the 3.5L first appeared and some will need mods to the egr to bolt straight on, some dont even have the option for egr so you have to make up something to block it off...

then there is the wty, mine have a 10yr wty some more some less...

ground clearance, mine have the same if not more gc than stock.... some long primary designs that i have seen have far less gc than stock, and arent any good if your lowered a fair bit...

i have hm headders they are a short primary stainless headder which were a direct bolt on and the factory heat shields etc... also are fitted so it has a stock appearance under bonnet..

they arent the best interms of power out there.... but on a stock motor std cam and factory ecu, i doubt others would make much is any difference at all to be honest.... maybe with cam selection and tune others would make a kw here or there or nm here or there but thats all yet to be proven
