OK first let me say I had no idea where to post this so here it is.

I have a 2005 magna that needs its 30k service.

Now will I void the warranty if I take it to any mechanic other than Mitsubishi, as I rang them about the service costs and it was $170 for service and $130 to $180 to have the coolant and brake fluids changed now I find this price a little crazy? Coolant and brake fluids should be done every 24 months fyi.

So I wish to take it to a different mechanic I was thinking jacks quick fit as they have a mechanic or there is a workshop 2 minutes drive from my house.

thanks for any help you can offer. Oh and please don't preach to me about using genuine products.

Most places have 'services' as log book standard, they stamp your log book and this does not VOID warranty. You need to ring the place and ask them this question directly and if they offer this service. I believe these do not void any warranty cover...

It is no secret mitsubishi services are pricey, id only get things done there if its covered by warranty, other services id get done somewhere reliable (need to find a good mechanic).

And no, genuine is not always the answer.

Agreed, fair chance your probably getting better service, mechanic and looked after car by avoiding the dealership too.

its actually against the law to void a warranty if you take your vehicle to a mechanic that isnt a dealership. Unless you have an extended warranty that you purchased with them, ie, a second hand car warranty.

Your right, but the car manual specifies certain requirement. just for an example, it says the timing belt needs to be changed at 100,000km, if it goes over and isnt changed, they will void the warranty by not repairing it, as the maintenance wasnt met. I guess they can be a bit more picky with the little things, if the fan belt tension wasnt checked, than they might say the alternator will not be replaced under warranty as the tension wasnt checked any may have been putting excess pressure on the alternator / bearings etc.

But really, I think your pretty safe, they might try to void it, but im sure you can defend yoruself in such a case, theres nothing really maintenance wise that some mechanics wont do that will make the warranty partially void.
