can i ask why you want a short shifter? i mean its not like you can quick shift any quicker, i mean snapping it down from 1 - 2 can only go so quickly. just curious :)
www.xracing.com.au do short shifters, send them an email n see if they have any for magna's, if not yeah might need to do some custom work

Tmichelsons, I chopped a bit off the top of my gear lever and put an aftermarket knob on my old Ford Laser, the shift time reduction is trivial, but where before you were using your whole arm to change gear like padelling a canoe, you do it with the flick of the wrist. Its much nicer to use, especially as the reduced travel makes the gearbox feel much tigher and have less slack.

And as Zane said, makes it look a bit better, especially if you put a nice leather boot and comfortable sports gear knob on. Would definietly do it again on the laser, though the magnas may already be fairly short I got no idea, and I personally think that the aftermarket stuff may look a bit out of place in some magnas??? Personal choice, but Im having trouble finding a momo wheel for my verada because brushed metal wont suit the interior and the woodgrain, and most of them has this.
