My remote wire doesn't work :(
The HU and everything that's supposed to turn on when the ACC is activated works fine, but when i piggybacked off it so i could run the amp it wouldn't work, turns out the wire was dead. I couldn't find any other remote wire anywhere so i just hooked the switch i was supposed to put in for the remote wire to a small power wire.
As you many of you may know, this is a problem, as if i forget to turn off the switch the amp will run even when the car is off.
I have an aftermarket Headunit by the way, so maybe something happened when it was installed (by strathfield or something a long time ago)
I'm going to get another switch with an LED in it, or at least add an LED somewhere so it will stay on telling you the amp is on.
Any ideas where i could jack another remote wire from?
Cheers guys!

Before you install any of this stop-gap bull****... Pull out your head unit and have a damn good look for a blue wire in the aftermarket stereo wiring loom, every brand i've dealt with installing has one, it should be loose and should say "AMP REM" or something like that. Hook it up, Bob's your uncle.

I think i saw one when i ripped it out the first time! allthought the wire it was origionally hooked up to (orange with white stripe) said "ACC POWER" and it doesn't work.
I need to reassemble the dash anyway...it's not on 100% so i'll take a look at it when i do that!
Still...the Accessory power wwire should still work lol.

Yeah I think your right, it might then turn on when he puts his lights on :bowrofl:
Dude there will be a blue wire. Can also have power aerial on it, just look for it. When you wire up your deck you are best to group your cables. Stick the 8 speaker outputs together ( cable ties ) and all the power together ( 12V, Ign, Ill, Remote etc ). It will make your harness look very good and easier to find things.

My (now defunct) head-deck had this exact problem. Turns out that the AMP REM wire was also the ANT CON wire, and it was also screwed. I don't smoke, and no-one in my car is allowed to, so I just used a cigarette power socket. That worked fine. Still works now actually (4 days later) :D .

Yeah it's just a monoblock so wiring organization is no major issue, next chance i'll get i'll reconstruct the centre console (it needs to be done anyway) and get this blue wire! I'll test it first though, removing the centre shouldn't be done often lol!
Geez man you're having a rough trott lately arn't you?
My Eclipse HU has a blue wire too. If you have a multimeter try just metering the wires with the HU in and working, the remote-wire as stuff all voltage going through it, probably half or 1 volt. DON'T hook it up to a permanent power source as this is a crappy way to do it and you will eventually drain your battery or end up running your amp when your stereo isn't even on and it will eventually die. Gah!

The amp will die? or the battery? i know the battery will die if it becomes flattened to much, but the permanent power source has a switch in the front attached to it, so as long as i remember to turn it off it won't be a problem.
Haha, not so much of a rough trot, just the usual hassle or two that always pops up, apart from this power wire thing everything is going 100%
Hassles or not...It was definately worth it :D
