Hey guys just joined up and i need some help. I recently got a 98 tf solara wagon and i want to replace the factory stereo with an after market one. I have pulled the dash off and removed the factory unit but im a little confused with the factory wiring harness. I got a diagram off install doctor (the lower diagram) but it didn't seem to match up. Can you buy an adaptor or similar for the orginal harness or do you have to cut it off and rewire it. Looking at the harness i think the ignition and battery wire could be either the blue or black/red wire, would the speaker wires be grouped using similar colours eg(yellow with red stripe and the white with red stripe). I assume the rear speaker wires are thicker so the voltage doesn't drop. That leaves a few i cant place. Is one of them an earth wire?
Any helps appreciated thanks

You should be able to get a wiring adapter to suit. When I did my stereo, I got two Aerpro adapters from my local Autobarn (they were both in stock too, woo!). One converted the Magna wiring to some sort of default (I think they called it "ISO", can't remember for sure). Then I bought a second adapter to go from "ISO" to the back of the headunit.

Do a search and there are heaps of lazy mans guides. If you have a single harness the power / ground / ill are in the middle and the speaker outputs are the 4 on either end. Do yourself a favour and go buy a $5 12V light to test 12V / Ign / Ill and a 9V battery to test speaker outputs. Better still, get a multimeter.:D

Hot tip, you don't need to locate the earth in the existing harness, there will be one coming out of the Kenwood deck...
