Having just purchased a supercharged magna. The local autobarn posed a question. If the belt that drives the s/c breaks will the car still run OR do i need to carry a spare and a hex key? What have been other peoples fuel consumption? At present with mixed driving about 11.6lt/100.

no it will still run but will be really sluggish!

good economy!

i was getting anything from 8.0L/100km to 150L/100km

it can never hurt to carry a few spares esp if they are uncommon parts

HAve you had it fail on you unexpectedly? Was told to look at changing it and the timing belt every 50k. HAve you done this yet and what part no for s/c belt?

oh i don't know. was there such a car? my wife said your allowance for this year can be spent in one transaction or she'll give me a weekly one. what things make it such? i thought about the ralliart s/c but was concerned about so much power through front wheels. Plus erny76 is a local to me and enjoys his awd.

yeah by looking at your profile i think it's the sprintex promo car, as that has customer leather trimmed with supercharged,

How much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?

It cost me the same as a normal VRX AWD would cost. It's just a bugger it came with the supercharger. Damn.
I have experienced a spinal crush injury which has meant that i can't work on my P76's so i needed to have something different that hopefull will keep me inside during the cold winters and enjoying the sun with sunroof open in summer.
So is there a part number for this belt?
In the owner's manual i am down as the first owner besides MMA.

You haven't stated what kind of supercharger you have,

But I'm assuming your car is has the Sprintex kit fitted, Mitsubishi won't be able to help you. I'd contact Sprintex. They will be able to tell you the exact brand and part number.

Their number is (08) 9262 7222
ask to speak to someone regarding the service for a the Mitsubishi Magna Supercharger Kit.

The belt is good for 50,000km before it needs to be changed. Thats what I was told when I got mine put in anyway :D

Sorry to hear about your back injury mate, hope this car takes the mind off it :)

yeah dude you have the sprintex company car, which would have to be one of the better s/c'd ones out there... contact the person you brought it from for more info....

but the part number is printed on the belts, both the toothed s/c drive belt and the ribbed accessory belt

congrats on the pick up its a nice car

I think i have come across a strange thing. The fuel tank seems to hold only 60lts. The rear twin pipe seems to incroach on the area of the petrol tank. Is this me or fiction?

if the belt snaps, you won't drive your alternator.. so see how far you get :D

i got pretty far, i nailed it coming out of the carpark at work and the belt fell off lol

damn it was slow as, but still faster than my merc... i guess you'll go as far as you can untill the battery goes flat..... although i did stop down the road and put it back on (i had alignment issues with the pulley and belt (quick call to sprintex and they sent me a new belt and pulley spacer free of charge and it was all A1 again)

the long ribbed accessory belt you can get from anywhere, it a Holden Astra belt, i got one from repco they had it in stock... part number is printed on it!

the toothed s/c drive belt im not so sure of, but the number is on that too, 7mggte or something from memory, i wouldnt think it'd be too hard to get either

the fuel tank in the awd is 70L and you can get 70+L in it..... best not to run it own completley due to fuel starvation when conering though

Toothed belt - Gates Powergrip GT3 8MGT (6 425DS) - Doubt that you will break that, these are VERY strong. (Used as timing belts)

Was just going to say that.

Also my economy was low 10's on average. More suburban driving than highway.

you'll need to carry tools to remove the engine mount to get the new belt on if the old one breaks. will also be a good idea to carry some sort of bar to pull the belt tensioner back to get the belt on easier

I wouldn't pay too much attention to your fuel economy off the trip computer. AFAIK - it calculates fuel usage based off what one of the injectors is doing (can't remember which one), and multiplies it by 6. Add another injector, or larger injectors and it becomes about as useless as tits on a bull.

bahhh drive faster

my fuel useage was out as much as almost 10L on a tank when driven hard

eg comp said used 50L

then when re filled it'd take 60L

now when it was std it was pretty much spot on with only a 1-2L variation....

the trip comp dosent know about mr 7th injector lol
