just go back and tell them to re do it

what good are "fog" light's if they only work when the high beams are on

they arent driving lights or spot lights

You should get another switch and hook it up so they can be turned on seperately to everything else or have it go through the switch but only when parkers/lo/high is on. That seems best. Yeh, make them do it.

Good ol Autobarn....I wonder which genious thought wiring "fog" lights up to the high beams was the best idea.

Effectively, you'd have more vision without any lights than with your fogs and high beams on in the fog.

I'd take it back, abuse them a little for wasting your money and time, then make them redo it at their own cost, and pressure them into giving you something for their **** up. Its only fair :D

i thought it was illegal to have your fog lights on if theres no fog
so probably wouldn't connect them on to the parkers

By law thats the way they have to wire them up.
As you are only supposed to have em on with yre high beams.
You can get fined for having them on, make sure you a switch to turn em off or on as this will stop you getting a fine in most cases or having to cut yre wires if pulled over.

I have mine connected to the light in the ashtray and a switch near my stereo.

Fog lights must be wired to parkers as when you use fog lights and having high beam on
will blind you. They must only be used during fog and adverse weather conditions like very
heave rain, snow etc. (This by the way is how factory fitted fog lights are wired).

Driving lights must be wired to highbeams as the only time you can use them is when you
are allowed to use highbeams, that is, non-built up areas. However, you must turn them off
if there are vehicles within 200 metres in front of you, whether going in the same direction
or not.

Yeah my Verada has factory fitted fog lights and there is a separate twisty bit on the indicator stalk that activates then separately. They can be turned on when either the parkers are on or with the normal/high beams.

vlads right there is no point having fogs wired up to high beams

they are a 25 or 35w globe standard arent they not 55w

we are talking factory lights here if they are aftermarket ones, then thats why they are wired that way

Mine are 55W globes as well.

Some more info.

Fog light beams are broad and short and are high cut (as in they don't throw a lot of light
upwards). This is so that the light beam gets under the fog and light up the sides and front
of the road so you can see where you are going.

Driving lights are designed like high-beams which have a long narrow beam giving you a
longer visible range. Also, driving lights should be mounted higher (at least same level as
normal lights) to give better range.
