I have seen a few posts about guys who have put this in their TP. Due to the fact that come ass clown tried to pinch my Magna on Friday night but only manage to stuff the drivers side door lock I have decided the remote is the way of the future. Just a couple of things guys, how difficult is it to fit and where to locate a good one, should I grab one from a later model Magna or from Repco and the like

why do you have to grab one from an elite? cant you just install a universal kit?

you have to grab them out of an elite TP

tp elite did not have remote cental locking.

you can steal the central locking out of any elite and wire it to an alarm/imobiliser with suitable relay.. or buy a cheapish kit with 4 units. kits come with wiring and relay.

I;ve got a universal remote locking kit, got it for $99 from Autobarn. It was pretty straight forward to install but required a fair bit of frigging about to get working smoothly. Probably took me the best part of a day before i had it working properly.

In my Elante I got a central locking kit from Supercheap and then bought a Rhino GT from eBay. The Rhino also has an onboard imobiliser which I have running through my fuel pump.

if you get just the cheap central locking kit without the remote, can you hook it up to an alarm/immobilizer system?

Generally yes you can connect them, but check the specific kits you are buying to make sure they are compatible. Most seem to have negative pulse output type connections to alarm kits.

ok, central locking kits im gathering should be easy enough to do a DIY as i understand how they roughly work. do you rekon i would be able do a DIY with an alarm/immobilizer? or is that something for the auto electrician?
