Hi Guys,
just wondering if any factory leather seats will fit a 2nd Gen wagon? I have seen the leather covers on ebay, not a bad option - but pretty expensive really. Just wondered if any 2nd gen models (Verada speced up?) came with factory leather? Just bought my girlfriend a full leather interior for her astra off ebay for $250 - front/rear seats and door trims, and they are perfect. Got to be able to find something similar for the magna, don't need door trims as they are easy to make up - but some front and rear seats would be good.
Just wondering what others have got/done?
Sam
boostinhard,
the KS Verada Xi came with leather from factory i believe, it may have been an option in some of the other verada models.
These are rare, perhaps you can source a diamante wreck from overseas and have the seats freighted over here? Could be costly though.
Ebay is your friend!

Hi Lima,
yeah i thought that they verada's may have had a leather option, shipping from over seas will be too costly I think. I'll just chase a few mitsu specialist wreckers to see if they have anything in the yard. Cheers,

Lucifer on here... Cbf logging off
KS - KJ leather seats will fit a second gen... Probably KL-KW as well :)
Gotrice has third gen leather in his car, and Lucifer has KJ ei seats in his...
TUFFTR has second gen leather in his car.

Wicked, thats what I wanted to hear!!! Does that include the rear seats as well, or just the fronts? Do you know if they just "bolt-in" or require modfications to the rails/mounts etc?

Lucifer again...
Fronts bolt straight in.
Rears take a bit of work to fit, the back rest will bolt in... However the bottom part that you actually sit on will just sit on the metal shelf there, the prongs that go into the original mounts will not fit, too short and about 3 inches away from their original positions.

No worries, thanks for that. Do they "sit there" well enough, or should I modify them to fit properly - if possible? Thanks,
Sam

Yeah they sit there just fine, I've had my drunken mates clambering all over the back seat there and it's been fine. It's really just a cushion anyway, its not saving anyone's life lol

lol - cheers. Next question is, roughly what do you expect to pay for a set of these leather front/rear seats in decent enough condition from a wreckers?

i've been quoted $1000 for a set of KJ Xi leather seats, i think its a little too high

Bloody hell, I was hoping for something like $300-$500 bucks depending on condition. They wouldn't have paid $1000 for a wrecked verada.... Bloody wreckers!!!

From what I've heard, the 3rd-gen leather you see on ebay can fit 2nd-gens, I think the fronts are almost exact, but the rear needs a little work, a nip and tuck here or there?
Bit of a pain that they only seem to be available in bone.

Yeah - but those leather covers on ebay are still like $500+ right? Im sure a factory leather seat would be a better option, but hey - I could be wrong. I guess atleast with the ebay ones you get new material? Just pissed off I could only get a deal like I did on ebay for my missus astra! $250 and the seats are pefect, beatiful black leather with no marks front and rear.... Patience is the key I guess, that and ebay anyway!

i seen the ones on ebay for around $350-$399 for the verada cream ones and the other ones are $599

thats not too bad for the verada cream ones, are any available on there at the moment? I can only find the leather look $600+ units...

theres no cream ones avalable at the moment, would you be willing to do a group guy on the other ones??
boostinhard
09-10-2007, 10:32 AM
I could be interested in a group buy, but I would want a better price than $600+ that is a lot of money for seat covers... Would much rather find actualy leather seats for that price or less and bolt them in.

the seat covers can be actually stiched into place, when you think of it its still preaty cheap

yeah look, its probably not a bad price - but more than Im wanting to pay on my magna at the moment, the car was only $2k... Will keep it in mind though.

The ones I mean are factory Verada ones in cream/bone, usually $350 from memory. Seem to be on there quite a bit, eg. maybe every two weeks, but I've never particularly been interested, so haven't paid close attention.

yeah thats not too bad I guess, mind you - I guess for another $200 or so bucks you can get the colour you want and the stiching you want etc.. Decisions decisions!!!

As others have said, 2Gs did come out with Leather as an option although not many picked it up due to the cost I suspect.
TUFFTR has a factory leather interior in his TR Sedan (picked up from from Jet Blk or killbilly I think ).
I have (or should I say my son now has) dark grey factory leather in the TS Wagon (purchased from a wreckers in East Melbourne - out of a Verada Wagon)...

oh, and dimi108 has leather too...

3G leather seats will also fit but not the door trims (I don't think so anyway).
I'd be modifying the rear seat brackets to secure them in if I was you though. Have a seat come out in an accident and the rear passengers will not be held in by their seat belts.
Another option would be to get a trimmer to fit a set but that's big $$$.
There's a few threads on Leather interiors, do a search and some homework.
Call some wreckers, watch ebay or get lucky here at AMC. Good luck.

That leather in your son's wagon is exactly what I want!!! I have a second gen wagon, and think that would look fantastic (not to mention look brilliant) Guess I should just keep trying wreckers to see if I have any luck. Unless your son wants to sell his? haha, I doubt it!

I know a guy that can custom make a set of leatherette trims (which means removing existing seat trims and fitting new ones). If you're interested, PM me and I'll give you details:)

You're probably right about actually securing them, but the rear seat doesn't actually hold anything related to the seatbelts on the TR/TS sedan.
