I recently had a problem with my pioneer h/u. Pioneer DEHP-8650mp
one day after turning the car on i notices that there was a lot of engine noise, i have never had even a little bit of noise in my car. Checked earths, rca's and power, all seemed fine, i had replaced my unit with a brand new, DEHP-8950 because the harness is the same, all the engine noise had vanished.
I had been told a while ago that with some pioneer decks somethin always S**TS iself with the RCA pre-outs, or something along those lines...
...is the true, has anyone ever heard of this stuff before?
i just dont wanna get it replaced with another pioneer deck if the same thing will happen again.

yes yes yes
relax its the rca track fuse
take out the unit and get it repaired, it will cost no more than $50 and a day or 2 to be repaired
it's a common thing with all pioneer headunits, better this happening than more serious internal damage..
dont take it to a JB hifi or strathfield place to get fixed, go direct...
i had my last one done next day service and cost less than $50
:edit:
your in vic
i know of a good place that i can reccommend
CVE electronics bell st pascoe vale

yes and no
tell me what you would rather, it's happened to me 2 times now
1st time decided to go wty, yeah free of charge.... remove deck return to store, wait 6 weeks!!! std pioneer turn around time... re fit deck and off you go happy listening to the tunes... (although took 12 weeks for me in reality as deck wasnt touched 1st time, and i wa told installer would remove and re fit, but they were busy..... so did it myself)
or 2nd time
pulled out deck (less than 5min) dropped off at CVE electronics pm afternoon
picked up deck am next morning parted with less than $50 hapily on my way

i had the same issue with my pioneer deck.
rang up jb hi fi, and they were no help at all.
rang up pioneer directly, and they said take it into one of our repairers.
so took it in and it was fixed within a few hours at no cost (under warranty).
my advice ShiVrx, ring up pioneer, and they will tell you where their closest authorized repairer is to you, take it there, and they should fix it free of charge within a day, if its still under warranty, otherwise, just pay $50, better than waiting six weeks as andrewd suggested.

Plastic covers solve the problem! I got a ex-demo deck from JB and it was busted from purchase. They had no idea what was going on either. Lucky I got the 8650mp for only $400. One look and Marty new exactly what it was. Took it back and it took 4 days to come back. Love the deck though!

I'm pretty sure the problem normally occurs if you haven't got your amplifiers grounded properly. The amp seeks a ground, so it runs up the RCA cable into the HU and blows the fuse. Pioneer would argue that it's improper installation and hence not their problem.
I had my 6850MP fixed under warranty for this problem. I was without a headunit for 4 weeks or so. I was told that first time it's free, but if it happens again you have to pay for it.

Sounds a little stupid to me, I would have said "Well how do you prove it's not faulty repair job second time round?" if they said that to me.
