depends what the voice coil config of the subs are and what the monoblock is stable at
But Yes, you most certainly can.

I was thinking of getting those 12" MTX 750W subs from strathfield and one 900W Pioneer monoblock, how would i go about wiring it

^^ with wires. If they are SVC 4 ohm wire them in parallel. +ive to +ive and vise versa. Will give you a 2ohm load to the amp.

Very very good, that is what he should attempt to do. :bowrofl:

Most monoblocks i've seen have 2 sets of terminals anyway to allow you to run them in paralell.

i dont know what your budget is matey, but:
1 sub thats $400 = infinitly better than 2x$200 sub
that is all :)

Depends what you're after, you'll get more bass from the 2x$200 subs, but sound quality might be less.

Not necessarily... A single subwoofer is often capable of pushing out more bass than a pair, depends on the subwoofer(s) in question! I prefer a single any day.

might also need 2 to get the VC config right to load the amp

It might be able to go louder, and crisper, but it wont be able to make as much bass, well at least from my exp. it can't.
Eg. You'd get more bass from 2 12" subs running off their own ch say running at 300w, then you would with the 1 sub running at 600 w off both channels. This is from my personal exp., so it may differ with yours.
I put it down to simple physics, 2 12" are moving more air.
whats a decent 15" sub then for around $200

Generally ( and it has been tested to be fairly accurate ):
If you have a 10 and a 12 inch sub with the same TS specs running in sealed boxes with the same Q off the same power, the 12inch will be 2-3db louder due to cone area.
If you double the power to a single driver you add 3db ( obviously there will be a limit!! )
If you double the cone area off the same power you add 3db.
If you double the cone area and double the power you add 6db
If you increase the efficiency of the enclosure, i.e. add a port you will add about 3db.

what mr charisma said, 2 subs wont equal more bass, unless you consider 3db more bass

Yeah it wont equal more SPL however 2x 12's will have the same cone area as a 22inch woofer so what M4DDOG is saying is that you will get the sound of a much larger woofer out of 2x 12's which some people prefer.
If you are to get a second sub, just make sure it is powered adequately. Personally I have never needed more than a single 12 ( Clarion 2cuft ported, Boston 12.5lf Sealed and Boston G5 sealed / ported ) but people like different things....

i agree with M4DDOG somewhat
i have 4 12" subs in 2 seperate boxes (sealed)
when running 2 subs @ 2ohm its just as loud as when i run all 4 @ 1ohm NOT ANY LOUDER :(
but you can feel the bass more... it makes the rear vision mirror fall off more often :P
i can really feel the kick in my chest (just how i like it) although the sq is better with just the 2, although i do love the feeling of the bass in some songs that is so low you can barley hear it (but i have tuned most of thast out as it dosent work well with a mix of music)
i'd really like to upgrade to 2 decent subs though... 4 is over kill for a povo system thats not even loud hahaha maybe 130db if im lucky...
whats the diffirence between ported sub box and a sealed one

Yeh that's exactly what i'm saying, you feel the bass more than hear it, which i like, but yeh like you said some people prefer the single 12. Which is why in my first post i said it comes down to what you prefer :).

whats the diffirence between ported sub box and a sealed one
If made correctly a sealed box should give you the flatest response curve, it will have no problem reproducing any Hz across the range ( woofer depending of course ).
A ported box will play the octave above the tuned Hz of the box ( i.e. the port ) about 2-4db louder than if it was sealed. Of course some subs like DD gain a million db from the port. It does dip off rather quickly either side of this octave.
Think of it this way, if you want to go booming around you would tune your box to 40-45Hz so you have a total disregard for the Sub Hz ( good for dance music ). If you are after a more SQ feel to a ported box, try tuning down in the low 30'sHz. The sub does not play Hz under the tuned Hz very well due to the lack of support from the enclosure.
When I had my G5 in a ported box it was tuned to 33Hz, 4Hz off the Fs so it played hard and low. Then I grew up and put it back in a sealed box:D
