wth is going on with my factory H/U??
there has been no battery in my car for 3 months, i finally get it going and the H/U works and dosent even ask for a code
the a couple of min later it says "code" then it wont let me enter it and just displays code on the screen!
so d/c the battery
connect it up again and it works again
then after a few min asks for the code again????
still wont let me enter one no buttons do anything except for the power turns it on/off 9still displays time when off too.....
im lost how do i get it to work for more than a few min???
i only need it to work for a week of so till i get some real audio back in there

yeah man its the factory h/u works fine!
havent used it in 8mths though, but it does work (untill "code" appears)
and then it still works but CODE is displayed and nothing else functions...
there must be some trick to it...
like leave it on for 300days with the key in or something stupid like that...
mabe its just my car, d/c the bat for approx 2hrs today and worked fine straight away none of the stalling issue you normally get
got me stuffed

so you installed it yourself yeah? cut wires or adapter? again r u sure the connections are good? :P
I think the real question is, why haven't you installed an aftermarket head unit yet :D Sorry mate, not helpfull, i know. In my experience with stereos in cars(mostly aftermarket), always check the ground! 99.99% of the time, if everything else looks good, its a poor or faulty ground causing the problem.

i used to have a pioneer 2 din dvd h/u
nothing cut, factory connection just plugged back in.... 100%sure it's good as it works fine... decent sound too.... then after a few min decides it needs the code (but i cant enter it)
then if i d/c the battery for just a second and re connect it works fine again untill it wants the code again

Yeah the stock deck in mum's TJ does that, works for a while then asks for a code after the battery has been disconnected for a while. Enter the code and away you go. I would get an aftermarket one!!

factory h/u is grounded through the antenna i believe??? not 100% sure...
but i assure you the problem isnt installation/wiring associated
i had problems with the h/u many moons ago as i entered the wrong code a million times then shelved it for ages...
im in the process of getting another 7" touchscreen dvd h/u with bluetoth gps etc... but $500 isnt going to get me one lol and im not getting an ebay crappy thingy i got one of them floating around thats busted and cant be fixed cos they are gay lol

yeah but the bugger wont let me enter a code..... press the buttons and nothing happens...
aftermarket one is comming trust me.... i have a deh8650 but i sold it and dont wanna install it then remove it again when i get payment....
plus i have prettymuch no dash/console and interior bits atm as its all getting painted so the stocky is just there so provide some form of noise.... if i can hear it above the 4000" Vtech exhaust i have left over fron the s/c

Has its own ground on the wiring harness, ok for stock, completely useless for aftermarket head units (as i found out the hard way). Mind you, just get a bit of heaver gauge wire and ground to the chasy(sp?)

delete thread and close and bury please :P
its working for longer than 3min now!
solution hammer and...... lol nah
had to get in and enter code before it requests it by pressing and holding the disp button (as if to set the time, but code input comes up instead)
thanks to the vehicle handbook for be no help at all...
btw the response splits run nicley off the headunit for the average person..
