Howdy
Now that im waiting on my Magna to arrive. Im going mad and trying to think wht i can do to it etc.
So thought id start up this thread and see what people think the Musts are for a Third Gen Magna.
First off i think Tinting is a must have for any aussie car and makes the magna look great too.
So add all your must haves,do's,buy's to the list.
lowered, magan's/verada's look hot when they're dumped!

tinting, lows/superlows, clear side indicators (on a TE-TJ), colour coding, replace stock stereo (atleast the HU).
thats all the *must do's* i can think of

exhaust... though i haven't got mine done yet, what i have done though is lowered, tinted, new head unit and a K&N panel filter
imo:
lower
tint
rims
clear side indicators
muffler
retrim door cards
modify intake for angry sound
colour code side skirts if they arent already

Agreed. As a bare minium for the not a stock magna anymore look. Mags( 17" min) and a de badge too. I've got a 03 TJ11 exec in white, was stock when i got it but had dark tint, a dark tint sets any light coloured magna off the hook! Now I've got 17's(to keeps things legal, tyre placard says 15" + max 2" = 17") with almost no dish (makes smaller rims look bigger) and running on a 50mm drop. I get hard every time i look at it:redface:. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=122490741&albumID=0&imageID=6591935
I love my car :bowrofl:

can depend on the colour somewhat... white, yes it improves it, but imo black it doesnt have much of an effect

Good suggestions,
know this isnt the forum to be asking but what are the better head units on the market at the moment without the screens.
Cheers

I'd say Pioneer and Clarion are the best at the moment. Car audio is cheap as all hell lately. You can pick up a real nice head unit for ~250-~350 that you'll have for 5+ years.
With debadging, only thing I took off was the 'executive'. Everything else seems okay. Having V6 there doesn't look that bad.
Also, rims and tyres are the first things I'd change.

Buget: Up to 1K
No DVD, no need imo
Dunno actually! :P but i will eventualy get some goo speakers.
Im looking at a couple pioneers atm:
DEH-P80RS
Because it has the silver to go with the dash
DEH-P8850MP
Nice looking h/u
So if i got these models, can i install a dic stacker in the boot and have it all connected and run an ipod through an adaptor? not very techy in terms of car stero systems

You've got one grand for the headunit!?! Why would you want in dash dvd for that? You can get a mint Kenwood flush in dash double din dvd unit for about a grand atm. Looks hot.

if you plan on going good with the stereo (ie $400+ splits, decent sub, all amped etc) then i'd say go eclipse, and at that cash walk straight into Alberts Morley, and buy an Eclipse CD7000 (last years model) for $650. If ur looking at CD only, and dont want DVD and/or a screen setup, that will be the best system you can get for ur money (quality wise). It may not offer bluetooth/ipod cables with it, but will give ur system a much better starting point :)

If you get a Verada, do not debadge it, Magnas look good debadged, Veradas look like riced up Magnas when they are debadged.

No one has mentioned a whiteline heavy duty rear sway bar. Great little DIY project for anyone with even the most basic mechanical skills / tools and will greatly improve the handling of an otherwise stock magna when being driven spiritedly.

no they are awesome lights.....
compared to my vintage Vespa and it's 25w Head candle LOL
O.P
the only real magna mush have's to be honest, are good servicing and look after the mechanicals, better off spending a few $$ making sure it's all tip top, cos if the cam belt breaks or the trans goes bad....

the trans goes bad....
Good point.
SERIOUSLY -> get an auxiliary transmission oil cooler, currently the transmission oil is cooled by piping into the car's radiator, which tends to run a little hotter than what it should. Also get the transmission flushed on regular intervals.

You've all missed the best value mod by a mile. What about EZBoy's flowed throttle body.
