Ok well i've been looking at bob jane at getting one of their pack thingys 4 tyres and 4 rims. Now i dont have the greatest of minds to be able to picture my car with new wheels on it, so im just wondering if anyone could post up some pics of their cars with wheels from bob jane or any place like that. Not really intrested in $4000 chrome rims either. Looking at spending $1500 max, so yeah. The cars a 94 magna, so if anyone with the same or similar car could post up a pic that'd be great.

Thanks

$1200 for 18" rims new with tyres! Thats prety damn good, they look mint too. Any idea what the charge to Vic is?

As for the bob jane rims, I was thinking about getting 18" graphic's for a KS or 18" storms for a TF/TH, its undecided on which car though atm haha. Linky (http://www.bobjane.com.au/Specials/images/catalogue_oct07/oct_wheeltyre.pdf).

I'm pretty sure its only about $100 to get them to you. Check out the trading post, TAG have a massive amount of styles and sizes and their prices are all wholesale.

Yeah i was thinkin 17inch storms on my car, when i got the funds together. Just be careful with the wheel tyre packs from bob jane, they can give u choice in the tyres, which means the price varies, the min price they show their though, uses alright, but not that good tyres, u wont' get a lot out of em, it'd be better to spend a lil bit more get better tyres and get a longer use out of them. Food for thought.

The stock on the magna is 15" isn't it? Whats a good size that can be put on without looking sh*t? I was thinking maybe 17" or 18" for me prob the 17"s i think but i'm still thinking about it? Anyone else with some pics? wollongongVerada: They do look pretty good, i'll have a look at them as well

18's are a bit bigger but from what i have searched the price isnt a massive increase from the 17's. If you can spend 1500 i would go 18's personally.

Just rember that you can only go 2' bigger legally.... that means 17's.
And 1' wider..... doesn't give you much to play wit eh.:doubt:

for 1500 you'll get 17' wit good tyres OR 18' wit crap tyres....

Is that so? I didnt know that. Good thing ya told me then, 17"s it looks like then. That 1" wider isn't it sorta as wide that can fit under the body of the car as long as it dont stick out past the side of the wheel arches? Cause thats why 4wds with massive tyres put flares on the cars so they dont stick out

Personally I reckon 18" is the best size. Anything bigger just looks funny.

Well I Question that... Cos Companies often put like a range of wheel on there cars for example the commo, which stock is 16's, but their archs easily accomadate 19's and 20's without there being a suspension or clearance issue. Which is what the law is about, the clearance between wheel and roof arch is it not. U maybe right, but i still wonder.

Hamish has the storm ones on his TF I think, I'll see if I can find a pic.

This is the only one I can find atm, its attached, otherwise have a look at this thread: http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42792

Ok i think that i may have decided on the rim that i might get i think that it will be the storms from bob jane, now can someone clarify this for me cause i've read this in different forums that it doesnt matter what size rims or tyres you put on your car as long as the load ratings and stuff are correct for the car. But if it is the only 2" bigger than stock, did any magnas in 94 come out with standard 16". What's the chance of me being picked up if i decided to put on 18"?

Hitman20
17-10-2007, 06:23 PM
Chances are minimal, cos unless they kneel down with a tape measure, u can barely tell. And as long as the load ratings alright, u wheel archs can house 18's comfortable (without scraping) so it should not be a problem. 18's as big as i'd go though on a second gen.

is there much height clearance between the tyre and the wheel arches with the 18"s?? just thinkin about the pot holes and speed humps and stuff?

But if it is the only 2" bigger than stock, did any magnas in 94 come out with standard 16"You'll have to check the rules in your state. I think a few states have changed their rules lately, I know that in Qld it is now just a matter of keeping the rolling diameter within x tolerance of the original wheel; don't know about width or load rating.
But definitely used to be a maximum of 2inch increase over maximum released stock size.

And no, no 2nd gen ever came out with 16" wheels.

But either way, you should always remember that whatever wheels you get, you should not change the rolling diameter, by say any more than 3 - 5 %. So your wheels shouldn't ever "fill the arches" more than they did at stock anyway, otherwise your speedo is f@#ked.

Oh yeah... forgot about that. Cheers Rogue :P
Most Tyre places though, will measure it up and fit u with a tread to accomidate for such occurances. Just say, when u buy the tyres, can i get a tread that fits as close to the rolling diametre as possible, if they say no, ask around or go to 17's... where there's a will there's a way :P

Pretty minimal, a few of the guys on here have 19"s on their second gens, don't think any of them have been picked up yet.

If its questioned just tell em the car had 16" stockies when you bought it so you presumed 18" is fine based on the legislation...not sure how that would go, but its a fair excuse.

Not if you keep overall diameter the same.

Potholes are a problem with low profile tyres, however. There are two cars regularly parked outside my work that have hit potholes with their 45 series tyres. You can see a bulge in the tyre where it hit and ugly marks on the wheel. Obviously the tyre in each case has been ruptured internally by the impact.

That's why my dad suggested when I put new wheels on mine I max out at 18", but preferably 17". I wouldn't want bigger than 18" anyway, bit it's a good idea from a damage and cost perspective.

Dude there is like no market for 17's anymore... Most ppl go 18's... Just what i've been told. U can still get em, but new ones it's hard to find (exception being Rodney Jane), however most other places won't even stock em or supply em.

Sorry to rekindle a really old thread, i didnt wanna start a new one and this one seemed the closest to my Question. What's the size of the Offset (percentage wise) and how will this throw of my speedo, in going from a second gen 14'' wheel/tyre to a third gen 16" wheel/tyre?
Prompt reply would be much appreciated :D

hitman, google is your friend.
try ebay
just remember... if you invest in cheaply made 18's they'll be heavier and cost you more petrol and add weight to your car
if your serious about good wheels, always invest in the japanese or euro brands
definitely not the bob jane or tempy tyres types if you're looking for quality forged wheels

I have 235/45/R18.

Fit fine, but unless u have stiff suspension, I suggest either 1 of 2 things

a) roll guards

b) camber kit (about 60 bucks) fitted and tuck ur wheels in 1 deg neg. - looks cool and pulls the 18s in enough to not scrape
