After a big 6 point fine thanks to double demerits for the christmas holidays when I was on the way to work on the 4th of Jan  ive only got 5 points left and dont really want to lose my license or any more hard earned. So ive bought a few little gadgets...
1. Installed my new laser Jammer, a Blinder M25, which are pretty costly at just over $500. For those who dont know, these block the laser signal from cops hand held lasers, and the new laser multanovas in WA. In the pic you can see a little swich and an LED, when it on the LED is green, and when it senses a laser threat, it goes red and you hear a loud screech. These jammers are good so they dont make an error code come up on the cops laser gun, it just comes up with nothing.
The idea is that when it goes off you slow down and switch it off immediately, so then the cops get your speed and then ignore you. You can see the jammer heads either side of the number plate. its a little obvious for my liking, but culdnt find any better way to mount it without a lot of trouble. They are also supplied with a little spirit level as they have to be perfectly level and parallel to the road.
2. Whistler Pro 78 Radar Detector. I was impressed with these because they perform damn close to as well as the very top detectors, such as the Valentine V1 and Escort X50, but they were goin for around $400. However after looking on ebay, I got one for under $190. Soo cheap, basically one fine and it could pay for itself. Ive gone through a couple or multanova's, and these days the power output from the multanova has been cut way down, so you dont get much warning with the best of detectors. You have to react basically right after it goes off to not get caught.
I used to have K band on because some cop cars radar use this band, but about 5 times a drive it would false alarm, past every petrol station etc. I was worried that by the time I realised that the Ka band (multanova) was going off and not the K band, it might be too late to slow down, and the false alarms get a bit annoying, so now K band is off, and will stay off unless im doing country driving. That why I know I definitely have to slown down if i goes off. Ive also hard wired my radar detector in so the cable comes out from the windscreen vents, so you dont see a big dangly cord going ddown to the cigarette lighter. Pretty happy now, think I will have to be pretty unluky to get a fine now.
Anything you want to know more about or want details for purchasing one of these feel free to ask me.
Cheers,
Ollie

I thought this thread was going to say how you got a chick pregnant.....
anyway, Isn't think there is a pretty hefty fine Australia wide if the cops find out what that is?

I looked on eBay for these sorts of things, then I did a google search and couldnt find any results for "Ways to avoid fines if you are not speeding". So it appears if I DONT speed then I DONT get fined.
Also, Radar Detectors in NSW = play mommas and daddys with Bubba.

whats the punihsment if the cops catch you with that laser jammer, and wouldnt people wanna steal it? Actually those detector devices work pritty well, my mate paid for one which was $700 and picks up almost everything, and only a few petrol station doors, ill get the name if you want when i see him next.

Lenda, wouldnt mind knowing which type he is using and the range he gets on multanova's. They are also pretty hard to steal, unless you go and unscrew the brackets for the jammer heads, but even if they do, its useless for them because you need the module and all the switches inside the car. Regarding fines, that put me off getting one for a while, and asked many people, no one i have heard of has got a fine, and apparentyl there is no specific fine reagrding them, but they can get you for 'interfering or blocking police for whatever it is'. I think they are allowed to confiscate it from you, and chance of getting some sort of fine, but doesnt seem like they are fining people. Though since how the thing works is not getting caught in the first place, its unlikely they will see it and fine you.
Andrewd, yeh sure I could just slow down, but I acutally find that extremely dificult to do. Well I guess impossible because otherwise i would have. I just find the speed limits so ridiculoously low sometimes, and cops set up in places where they know they can get people, not because its a high risk/accidnet area. Take for last night for example, at around 1am, driving along a 4 lane road straight road and there were no other cars on the road (traffic flow a few cars per minute), however there was mr.cop with his laser as the road is a 60 zone. Sure during peak hour this road is packed with traffic, there are lots of trucks, stop and startign for all the lights, people turning on and off the road, and 60 might be appropriate. but at 1am last night, it was no different to a highway, were 80 would be perfectly safe. I had the cruise control on 80 for quite some time, lucky he had already pulled someone over, so I didnt get caught. But if i was, say i was doing just over 80, and it was doulble demerits, I would have lost more than half my license right there. Now I think that its sheer stupidty, for what was a perfectly safe speed, in a car with excellent pasive and active safety (not my car).

Ehh... Without lecturing you, you are a fool. Speed limits are set and enforced to protect the lives of the people who live in the areas designated by the appropriate speed limits. A built up area at 1am is different to a highway at the same time, there is an increased chance of a person walking or riding on that particular street, therefore, an increased chance/risk of an accident occurring.
As with diseases, the best cure is prevention.
Furthermore... I find it kind of funny that you have spent around $700 on 'protection' for your speeding habits... well done mate.

even though i had a go at the guy, i can see where he's coming from
im on the roads at unusual hours (shift work) and it's stupid that this one section of the freeway is 80km/h!! wth? seriously!
but try using the cruise heaps more...
or the speed alert can be modified that when you speed instead of the beep you get an electric shock lol
or pull your speedo needle off and put it 10km higher so your always going 10km/h slower than you think you are that way you can speed without speeding lol

:bowrofl:
to the OP; dude seriously, stop speeding.
it's stupid- increasing the risk of serious accident/injury to either you (who you must have enormous care for given you're speeding anyway) or someone else- which is more important.
People tell me it's a phase that everyone goes through, that doesn't make it acceptable. you're ruining the pleasure of driving for everyone else.
EDIT- A Guide To Maintaining The Speed Limit:
1) Accelerate until you arrive at the conveyed by numbers surrounded by a red circle marked on a plain white sign on either side of the roadway.
2) Lift your foot off the accelerator gently until you arrive at a partly-open throttle position which allows the vehicle to be continuously propelled at the same velocity.
3) If you exceed the indicated speed limit; Lift your foot completely off the accelerator until the marked limit is reached. In sever circumstances, one may apply the Brake.

i reckon the op has raised some valid points and i can see where it would be a valid safety device. theres no way anyone would deliberately speed and use one of these things cause u'd always be on edge.
these would be great where speed limits fluctuate, and due to the placement of speed detection devices in areas prone to acidents, it makes the driver slow down which is the reason for enforcement in the first place.
i got a discount on my license renewal earlier in the year for my excellent driving record!

theres a really simple cure to this problem which faces all motorists using that same stretch of road. OPEN YOUR EYES, AND LOOK FOR SIGNS! clearly if there's a car doing 20 less kilometres that you ahead of you, and you're the only one overtaking them; you're going too fast.

So you advocate the points opilot has made thus far? Is that what you're saying?
I can see the idea behind this gizmo you have, but I personally would just be lighter on the throttle, would be easier, and cheaper.

You've never driven down plenty road have you. 80km/h, everyone drives at 60-70. Your the only one over taking, but your not speeding. Ask tuffy, he'll back that up for me, its the most stupid road in Melbourne.

At risk of generating an argument, in my personal pinion; there's only one device which should be used to help you watch your speed. A road angel (beep when speed limits change-displays current speed limit on dash) or an Overspeed Alarm. Having a license demands a certain amount of self-control; you dont have that you dont deserve a license. Sorry if this offende anyone.
No-one should rely on devices like the ops' to be able to drive safely; ridiculous
